After my 83 miles yesterday, thought I should bring it up to 100 miles for the weekend so a quick blast into town and back...(to buy a new network rail card)

40 miles in lovely mild sunshine, at just over 16mph average.
Little or no wind today, so a slight headwind outbound, but not enough to slow you too much, and then a nice pace home for 15 miles.

Hardly a car to be seen once in the countryside, and that lovely countryside smell as you pass various farms...manure

No wildlife to report sadly...never normally do on this particular circuit. Funny that !

Meant to meet up with the club run but managed to miss them. Rode half their route then set off on my own, on a 'make it up as I went along' route. A couple of dead end roads but otherwise a good run - ended up doing almost bang on 200km and didn't feel too bad afterwards so pretty chuffed.

Managed to put in 35 miles. Was quite happy with that TBH. I've still got the remnants of that cold hanging on for dear life. The lads found it very amusing the amount of snot I was able to expel during the ride today.

It was nice to get back out today indeed - two weeks since i've turned a wheel with the same lurgy that lardy had. Tall Paul had to stay well out range for the flying lung bullets!! Didn't get as far as the cafe for a bacon sarnie either - never mind- have two next week innit.....

Its been a bit windy but the skies were blue so I couldn't resist getting out for a few miles (95 in total). I got up early and headed to Edinburgh, 16 miles to join the Spokes ride 47miles, then I popped to my folks for tea 16miles and came back after dark (another 16 miles). Just under half way on the Spokes run I broke a rear spoke (a bit ironic their name) and my wheel buckled a fair bit so the ride home was hard or was that the headwind.

Did 15 miles today around the route I used to, but under remembered the distance and the hills, some really steep long ones. Memory fooled me into thinking they were fine, but that was in the days I used to cycle a lot. With the blowy weather too it made it difficult going , but once I got to Barton it died down and was very pleasant going. The bike performed well, and was relatively comfortable, I didnt notice my tackle was numb until I stopped to powder my nose and it became very evident with the tell tale tingle and numbness. the strap pedals did nothing to help, I dont like them so got rid and removed them as soon as I got home, seemed to stop me putting my feet as far forward as I would have liked and ended up with numb tingley toes too. The gears were good in shifting, but not so good in the gap between them for my ride today, seemed a bit too high on occasion but Ill persevere and get used to them, I think I just lacked the leg power and need to build that up again.
Broke my speed record with 35.5 mph coming down Stapleton bank, Hanging on and feeling a little unsure due to not being used to such a light bike under me, but it performed well and was stable.
Im going to shift the seat forward a little as I felt a bit too stretched out and leaning forward too far, but otherwise a nice ride with more of a workout than expected. Pushing too hard at the start didnt help, when it turned out to be 5 miles further than I had expected, but managed ok. Surprised myself averaging 14 mph as it was quite a difficult run out for me. But Ill be back to get stronger on this particular route, as its still a great ride out albeit a little difficult because of the passage of time and not cycling enough.
Ill be using my Royal next time, just to compare and to enjoy the comfort more, and it will be interesting to see what the difference might be.
All in all a great time out of town on my vituoso, which was surprisingly comfortable.

A whole 5 miles commuting today...yes, 5 miles :smile::biggrin:

Took my sons £90 full sus mtb because despite his claims it was riding well, i wobbled the rear wheel....eeek  its a wonder he could ride it at all.

So, rode it to work, sweated like a pig getting it there, greased and adjusted the rear axle / bearings, put new brake cables on, adjusted the v brakes, cleaned and lubed the chain, adjusted the headset etc etc etc.

Rode it home a lot faster than i did to work...but i still wouldnt thank you for it

5 miles...equivalent to 10 or 15 on the roadbike

Just wanted to be out after the good news from the Doc this morning.

It felt great.
