Did 15 miles today around the route I used to, but under remembered the distance and the hills, some really steep long ones. Memory fooled me into thinking they were fine, but that was in the days I used to cycle a lot. With the blowy weather too it made it difficult going , but once I got to Barton it died down and was very pleasant going. The bike performed well, and was relatively comfortable, I didnt notice my tackle was numb until I stopped to powder my nose and it became very evident with the tell tale tingle and numbness. the strap pedals did nothing to help, I dont like them so got rid and removed them as soon as I got home, seemed to stop me putting my feet as far forward as I would have liked and ended up with numb tingley toes too. The gears were good in shifting, but not so good in the gap between them for my ride today, seemed a bit too high on occasion but Ill persevere and get used to them, I think I just lacked the leg power and need to build that up again.
Broke my speed record with 35.5 mph coming down Stapleton bank, Hanging on and feeling a little unsure due to not being used to such a light bike under me, but it performed well and was stable.
Im going to shift the seat forward a little as I felt a bit too stretched out and leaning forward too far, but otherwise a nice ride with more of a workout than expected. Pushing too hard at the start didnt help, when it turned out to be 5 miles further than I had expected, but managed ok. Surprised myself averaging 14 mph as it was quite a difficult run out for me. But Ill be back to get stronger on this particular route, as its still a great ride out albeit a little difficult because of the passage of time and not cycling enough.
Ill be using my Royal next time, just to compare and to enjoy the comfort more, and it will be interesting to see what the difference might be.
All in all a great time out of town on my vituoso, which was surprisingly comfortable.
