I was quite a bit slower on my commute this morning as I picked up an abandoned space hopper on the way.

Had to hold it by the horns in my right hand as I didn't have any bungees on me, I got loads of room from drivers

did it ask for a lift longers ? or do you always pick up abandoned waifs and strays ;)

I fitted a new chain tonight so I took the bike out for a test ride, I ended up enjoying it so much, I didn't get home til 19.5 miles (1hour and 10) later. I forgotten how much fun it is riding in the dark motorist give you much more room. (I was going to say respect but thought they probably thought, who's that nutter ;))

An hour and a halfs ride after work...heavy head wind outbound, but that fantastic tailwind giving you an effortless 23mph homerun.
Turned out nice despite threatening rain earlier today...and surprisingly mild. Didnt even get a sweat on...

my first post: how exciting!

did brighton > worthing > brighton (23 mile round trip)

Brighton to Worthing was ridiculous, the head winds left me gasping at points - I was looking down at my speedo and only just managed to keep it above 10 mph most of the way there... Not good!!

But then I had the wind behind me coming back: Oh yes. Did the 11.5 miles in just over 30 mins which I was really happy with - absolutely bombed it, flew past a few cyclists, tucking into cars' slipstreams, leaning into the corners - the works. Definately could have taken a few minutes off, but my shoe "pins" (or whatever you call the metal bit that clamps your shoe to the pedal is called... on reflection, I think they're called clamps) came loose, my chain came off.

But yeh - great ride thanks - got a real rush out of it

night riding is brilliant isn't it. So differant from daylight riding. Reckon we should do some CC night rides maybe coast and back like the mouseketeers runs .

Just 12 miles for me . My gears which have behaved impecably for weeks suddenly decided to go AWOL .
Not only was the chain climbing adjacent sprockets and skipping grrrr but the front mech decided to ship the chain over the big ring a couple of times . I had previously adjusted it slightly to elimate chainrub but obviously too much.

Couldn't be bothered to adjust in that humidity so took a shortcut home.

Culpret ? well I'd forgotten that I'd temporarily used 2x bits of scrap outer cable instead of one single piece ..........blush

Commute today, used as a test run for my homebrew MTB. Quickly assembled and a fettle on the way. Cycle 1/2 mile, stop, more tension on the rear mech several times over...sod it. On the stand once home and setup properly.
On the plus side, for £16...i got a strong alloy bike that looks quite good. Almost a shame my son's got his eyes on it ;)

Set off at about 6am this morning after my brekky and a cup o' tea, had a nice trip of 14 miles, somewhat hilly. Didn't have a great average, but then again I wasn't trying to, I was going downhill relaxing instead of zooming.

they are the best kind of rides arn't they. No agenda no pressure . I like to take my camera on those sort of rides . It gives me an excuse to stop and admire the scenery
