Standard commute today over Alderley Edge in the morning mist, but took my old steel mountain bike due to it's mudguards. Forgotten how heavy slow and unresponsive it is in comparison to my road bike. Easy spinning up the hill due to gearing but just felt soooo sloooow.
22 miles. First ride this autumn in the dark evenings, nice and mild but soon learned that a front light to be seen by (LED flasher) is not much good even for lit urban roads....hit nasty potholes twice didnt even see them until it was too late.
Otherwise a good ride
Cracking ride in to work, jumping the sleeping policemen in the rain and leaving the cars behind.
The rain kept all of the peds indoors so no-one was around to step out in front of me through the urban bit for a change, followed by a lovely hot shower to clean off the dirty spray from my face...must get mudguards.
Waited til it was dark to set off and try out my new Hope Vision 1 - very satisfying, maybe not Blackpool Illuminations but makes Cateye look feeble, able to ride fast and safe and not even on max setting.
Last commute of the week, 76 miles since monday, that includes the odd 1 hour ride here and there.
76 miles...neither here nor there really. Nothing to some here, but inconcievable to many at work
Me and my big mouth....the winds back with a vengeance.
Work, then back... Return journey was with 4 books for the kids.... and tea for us all...in the rucksack...god it was heavy............. Books well received, and the M&S lamb shanks very well received..... lazy friday tea...everyone not too well............
First day out on my new build, a beautiful oval tubed 650C wheeled racer fixie, Damn is it fast & OMFG can I pick up speed in a real hurry... Wind? pa, it just keeps me cooler... steepest & longest inclines I can find? 74" I feel like I can handle 79" .
Such a buzz & a great average speed considering the wind & roads I was riding on.
I had a really enjoyable club run today, today and last week its been a completely different route on the 9:40, that's a breath of fresh air I'll head to Dunfermline in a while to watch the tour of Lombardy.
Glorious day for a ride, as I have a cold decided to keep it short only 46.4 Km, there were a few others who came along but took the long way round to the start. We had a great ride around very quite roads in East Lothian (route here).
Oddly enough they all turned up on my door step at the same time, so had to invite them in for tea and cake... even more oddly there is still cake left over...
