I'm in Llanelli for the weekend with a couple of pals I was at college with almost 50 years ago.
Yesterday's activity was a walk along Rhossili Bay. We started near Llangennith and walked almost to Worm's Head along the hill. The tide was too far in to get out to Worm's Head. After a reviving pint we walked back along the beach.
Today was bike ride day, Llanelli to Camarthen and back. I chose a longer route, but one of the lads wanted a shorter route and failed to notice the steep hills! We were compensated by some great down hill runs.
We stopped in Kidwelly on the way back for very welcome carrot cake and tea.

I love that the three named places on the route map are Pontcysyllte, Froncysyllte and ... Trevor

It does have a certain je ne sais quoi about it, eh!? 😂

More utility-adjacent fare..

Out fasted at lunchtime into another unfathomably nice if hot day; taking the usual routes to various charity shops.

Scored a shallow glazed terracotta dish for my rescue-plant from Oxfam for £1.49.
It was ostensibly £1.49 at least; when I attempted to pay I was asked if I wanted to “round it up” – “no, I’d not like to round it up thanks - actualy I’d appreciate it if you’d knock a bit off for the fecking appalling ‘music’ I’ve had to endure since my arrival” is how I perhaps should have replied.

Onward to a few more locations; scoring an orange and blue check-ish Timberland shirt for £9.50... On the fence about the colour, sold on the fit. May or may not ever wear it..

A reasonable session on the rings then it was onwards to inspect the equipment in Cutteslowe park; which included some machines allowing various exercises against your own body weight. A clever idea with which I was impressed after having a go on a few; I think regular stops here are in order

Ogled some nice mid-century flats in Cutteslowe then headed back home using the signed cycle routes to the east of the Banbury road which took me pretty much to town, then onward via the tow paths with a bit of trimming en route.

Oddly 26.26 miles on the 26th day of the month; and very nice to be out

On Sunday afternoon I did a very gentle, slow 14 km loop of some undulating lanes near Crediton, avoiding the tougher ramps that I normally seek out. The reason for taking it so easy was that I had finally persuaded my non-cyclist nephew to borrow a bike and I didn't want to put him off. He seemed to enjoy it so I will ask him out again on my next visit and maybe try for 20 km next time, weather- permitting.
