Weather forecast was dire and very wet for today for a change šŸ˜• But although there was some very light drizzle - it was way better than expected. Didn’t really affect us. And we had some Saturday fun 😁

Just an hour's loop around a local disused quarry.

Finally, the chance of a decent sunrise hike!

Screenshot_20260302-102615~2.jpg

Up at 02:00 for the drive to Bamford in the Peak District with the aim of reaching the Trig Point on Winhill for the sunrise.. I started my walk, in the dark, just before 05:00
Quite nippy at the top with a wind gusting to 35 mph..

Well worth the effort!

Looking back, it's on the pointy bit at the top..

A good stick for pointing at stuff.

A tad under 11 miles, tough at first up the steep approach to Winhill from Bamford with a gentler descent to Ladybower Reservoir where the overflows were in full spate; a great sight to behold!

Back to the car to brew a coffee & pour boiling water over a Katsu pasta pot.. šŸ‘

First walk of the year I to local disused brick pits (a SSSI) with the dog. Still very soggy out there but drying, dog had a good run, looked like four people right in among the spoil heaps (where people don't normally get to) so I assume they were looking at habitat etc perhaps (there are marked corrugated sheets nearby as snake or lizard shelter I assume)
Looking forward to proper spring, get out there and see the flora and fauna

Wee decompression walk with the dog today.
Just realising how much he’s been stressed with my recent illness. Not been himself at all recently and still on high alert to protect Mum.
Visited the nearby wildlife area where he called the shots, where we went, pace, etc.
He stopped a few times to chew on sticks and did endless sniffing.
Seemed to really enjoy it and not bothered about being off lead with no ball play.
Snoozed away afterwards.

Took a walk this morning along the Kennet into town, then a bus to Henley, then a stroll along the Thames.
Ahead of me on the other side of the river, saw this unusual sight puffing away
1.jpg

I raced back to the bridge to get a better look, and it obligingly stopped at a red light.
Was hoping to see it turn left, and cross the bridge - would have made a great photo. Alas, it turned right, into the town centre
2.jpg

Perhaps this sign had something to do with it

I later went into the town centre, and there it was parked across from the local 'Spoons

The crew were stood beside me on the pavement, supping pints of Guinness, Mr. Dibnah would no doubt approve.
Was about to get a picture of them, but my bus pulled up at the stop down the road, so had to make a dash for it.
