That was the issue for Wiggo, when he went from the track to the tour in 2012. They wanted him to drop weight, without losing any of the muscle mass. He ended up on a boiled brown rice and grilled chicken diet, strictly calorie controlled .... He got down to 8% body fat!! 15% is considered a good number for 'normal' athletes!! I'm at 13%, which is one of the reasons why I'm not loosing as much weight as I would like to, as quickly as I would like to :cry::cry:

I've sort of promised myself a Canyon Endurace CF SL 8.0 Disc Aero Di2 if I get to 62Kg!! :bicycle::bicycle: It just looks so Good in that Hellfire red!!

I've promised myself a new swanky road bike once I get to 70kg. Wife is fully supportive  Too much choice though, so I'll be asking on here what people's thoughts are on a good all round (light, fast, comfy) bike for £3-£5000

Your progress is been a glaring in this year, you are on a good road. Food selection is getting more vital now that you are that far.
My change really has been to eat less cakes, biscuits, pies, chops, takeaways and more fruit, veg, and controlling portion sizes. I'm not dieting, in that I'm not counting calories at all. I have no ideas how many calories I eat per day as I don't want to get hung up by that. I've really just been trying to change my food choices.

I guess when you get to that low a body weight fat % it all becomes marginal gains. For me the pro riders are far too thin, bordering on anorexic. Not a good look. I'd rather aim for 'athletic' than extreme. Think physique of a typical footballer rather than Mo Farah

I did the Great South Run back in 2001 .... 10 miles which for me was a long way as I'm not really a runner. The most heartbreaking point was 1 mile from the finish, on the sea front in front of lots of spectators (including my wife and friends) when I was overtaken by a tree!! Every time any running event is on tv to this day, if there are people in fancy dress, my wife brings this up

This tweet is clearly meant for you then :laugh::

There is also a limit how much is reasonable lose weight that you can keep weight/power ratio in a good level. People are individuals so there are diffence with vo2-max and muscle cells.

100% agree Juhal. Speculating about how much quicker you’d be at a drastically lower weight doesn’t really work for me. You have to get there and then find out unfortunately!

Got to agree with this too! It hasn’t gone unnoticed by me either. Good work aleman

If you are looking at value for money Rose Bikes are a good looking deal. I'm looking at one of their sram force axs etap equipped bikes starting about £3k, that's about £1k cheaper than almost all the others I've seen. Their bikes tend to get a good write up when reviewed.

Ahh been hit with the moody kickr 18. Thought I’d slipped the net but no it went last night. Although wahoo customer service have been great.
Takes about a week to arrive, test it then send the other one back.

Sorry you've joined us

Edit

Has anyone with a Kickr18 on here not sent it back yet?

My problem is I don't really understand the different gearing types ( 105, sram, etap, di2 etc) so i've no idea if bike a) with one setup is good value compared to another bike with b) set up :banghead: I tend to fall for the asthetics and colour first ().

It's mainly down to weight of the groupset.and components, lighter = more expensive.

Edit to add

Electronic shifting so far to me just seems to work. No fuss, no drama and almost instant.

But you also read that some prefer one groupset, say sram, compared to another, say campagnola ...... but I can't find out why? Surely all gears work the same and the big differences are weight and available ratios ... or is there more than this?
