My problem is I don't really understand the different gearing types ( 105, sram, etap, di2 etc) so i've no idea if bike a) with one setup is good value compared to another bike with b) set up :banghead: I tend to fall for the asthetics and colour first ().
My recommendation is Specialized S-Works Tarmac Pro and Lightweight wheels. They must be fastest bike to alpe d’huez irl as well . There’s no way down only up ^_^

I can’t talk for Zwift. But in real life...

But you also read that some prefer one groupset, say sram, compared to another, say campagnola ...... but I can't find out why? Surely all gears work the same and the big differences are weight and available ratios ... or is there more than this?
Every bike, bar the first one I had, with more than one gear had been a Shimano equipped bike, I've never had a deraileur fail and all the other parts have been ok. With descent servicing any kit should see the life of the bike IMO.

A lot of brand loyalty is either an experience thing (never had one fail) or look what I can afford imo.

I went to Di2 Ultegra just because it was the easiest upgrade with the fewest component changes, the bike was already ultegra 8k disc so it was a levers and deraileur change only, plus the wiring and battery install.

Would I go back? No. It just works.

I was talkiing to my pet mechanic a few months ago, basically he said there is nothing really to choose between them, as @theboxers said "They just work"

SRAM Red eTap, he said, makes a neater solution as there are no wires, ASX of course has 12 speed, Di2 has the synchro shifting feature, which may be important to you, Campag has the "Bling Factor", it just looks and feels beautiful, superb engineering too. So what features would you like, and how much do you want to pay? My familiarity is with Shimano, and has been for 30 years, so changing to another brand makes little sense to me, 12 speed makes no difference to me either. ... I just plain can't afford Campag  plus it's Italian and I don't need 11 reverse gears

I think a lot of it is just snobbery. It was funny talking to Andre Griepel on the Fight Against ALS ride, He's going to be riding Bianchi Bikes with Shimano groupset, rather than the default Campag, because that is what he knows. He doesn't think any of the pro teams will be riding SRAM AXS this year, after the issues that teams had with the SRAM 1X groupsets last year.

If you are looking at value for money Rose Bikes are a good looking deal.
You can say that again! Wow! The Team GF Six Ultegra DI2 is under £4K with 'customisation' ... Shame the Carbon Ergo bar is unavailable though ... which means they can't give a delivery date  ... And that bog awful Stealth and Red colour way ... Vile !!!

I have used Campagnolo groupsets (veloce, centaur and chorus) and Shimano groupsets (ultegra). I have now Shimano Ultegra R8050 Di2 and it's been worked well enough that i don't feel that i need Dura-Ace. But i could use Dura-Ace chain, i have a thought that Dura-Ace chain last longer. With Shimano i would say 105 is a good starting point but i think it's available only mechanical so if you like Di2 then Ultegra is your choice. Groupsets work these days very well so if you need to do blind test i am not sure if you recognize what model example from Shimano you have.

Yeah their colour schemes leave a little to be desired xx(

They've got Ultegra 8k Di2 bikes for under £3k and they weigh less than 8kg

Dura ace chains are lighter. Ultegra last longer. Kmc for the win!

Mechanically I'm an imbecile so I won't be working on anything myself anyway  What I'll most likely end up doing is picking a bike based on it's paintwork and then end up with the components that it comes with
