Bit of a misfortune yesterday, my fault entirely. Battery died on my Di2 install during warm-up-forgot to charge it!!

I hadn't ridden or trained at all on the bike with new handlebars or arm rests, so it was a little uncomfortable, which had a knock on effect of me riding in the wrong seat position, rubbing sore patches, which are now very sore.

I did the event in too tall a gear for the inclines which saw my cadence as low as 45rpm, not good for burning legs out and maintaining what little speed I could muster against a cold southerly wind.

Amazingly out of nearly 40 riders my time wasn't too bad with lots of age group riders finishing around my, (well I thought it was) abysmal time.

After lecturing my kids on the five P's

Karma bit back!

Piss poor preparation=Poor performance:blush:

What was your time Andy? Well done for persevering.

I haven't gone for Di2 and the above is one reason why - I know I'd forget to charge it when I really needed it, just one more thing to check / go wrong. Have you posted a pic of the bike?

27.16. My best is a low 25. when i was a stone lighter

Early part of the year, and believe it or not, colder weather has an impact on speed- well it does me:laugh:

After using di2 I wouldn’t want to go back to cable operated gears it’s so smooooth
I don't have Di2, but have used it on a Hire bike, loved it and hated it at the same time. Hated it simply because the mechanic hadn't really set it up properly, and every time I was close to a cross chain and changed front ring it would drop the chain, drove me insane.

The next bike I get will have Di2, with the 'Intelligent' battery so that I have gear info on the Edge ... the big benefits for me is the ability to avoid cross chaining, and the self trim, so that you don't get the annoying chain rub on the rear as the cable stretches.

TdW league updated with yesterday's results. Some really good times posted last night :bravo:

As @Whorty is now firmly established as a Cat B rider he now finds himself in amongst the greens. Well done sir! :notworthy:

I'll try and do Stage 4 sometime over the weekend. I'm not really feeling it this week post-holiday, but had planned to get some rw miles in tomorrow. But forecast looks grim so I may do the stage tomorrow instead.

The ability to avoid cross-chaining was a big plus for me. I'm using a 32 tooth cassette on a short-cage, so that feature reduces the risk of doing some damage :becool:

Doesn't look like I'll be able to do Stage 4 this weekend, so going to have to hold off until next week for the catchup week and do it then instead. The good news is that by the time I get to do it, my new PC should have arrived, so I'll be able to Zwift on the highest graphical settings, rather than on the lowest! Admittedly I only put it on that when I'm doing a big group ride like ToW; my current setup can cope with the one from lowest setting when I'm doing a solo non-event ride.

I have di2 on my road bike and try to remember to charge after about every 4th ride , just waiting for a Bluetooth module to arrive so I can see the battery charge on my garmin

I can see the Di2 battery status on my Edge 1000, you don’t need Bluetooth for that, just the D-fly old or new version.

With my triple setup, i find the 'Syncro-shift' a huge benefit keeping the chain line very straight. The gear selector keeping ratios close from one chain ring to the next excellent too.
The only gripe, and its to do with my riding style and current gear ratios. Is if i want to stand whilst climbing I sometimes have to change chain ring to give enough resistance on the pedal stroke. I tend to spin, but if I power climbing in the 36t chainring
