Shout out to @berty bassett flying under the radar and going straight back into A cat last night! Seeing it on Strava just reminded me how much I loved racing with you amigo :hugs:
I spotted the whisper trying out the new courses.

We went for our 3rd Moderna booster Sunday afternoon, literally a few minutes after finishing my Sunday 60miler. Mrs went down hill Sunday night, and felt bad all day Monday. I felt crap Monday afternoon and night. Feeling a lot better after paracetamol and JD

I feel a but sore but ok. If you are feeling drained maybe try some electrolight drinks when riding and a recovery shake afterwards. I sued to feel ill the day after racing but these seemed to help. I use:

When riding: https://www.scienceinsport.com/shop-by-need/hydration/sis-go-electrolyte-powder-500g

For recovery after a hard ride: https://www.scienceinsport.com/sis-rapid-recovery-powder-1-6kg

I scoffed at the idea of taking a protein recovery shake but I genuinely think it helps now. I should use it more.

There are cheaper versions out there but you can get decent discounts from SIS.

Odd isn't it, until very recently I believed that refuelling after a ride was absolutely necessary. Since transitioning to low carb diet and fasting. I have become somewhat body fat fuelling adapted.

I did my 60 miler part fasted( not eaten since 6pm the day before) the first 1hr30, fuelled with carbs (one slice of lemon cake) for the remaining 1hr30.

I then had tea 5 hours later. I didn't feel I needed to eat during that period, just drink water and black tea.

Its the future ya knoes -intermittent fasting :okay:

It's a funny old game. I always have something to eat before I ride and if it's over 40 miles maybe I'll stop but I have never felt the need for gels etc and TBH I don't bother too much with recovery drinks now. But I remember when I was struggling I did use the drinks and recovery shakes and it seemed to get me through. I think now my body is a bit more used to the riding so I don't need it as much.

I think you guys are talking at cross purposes to a degree.

Really I think you first decide what your objective for a session is before you choose how to approach it.

Peter I think Joffey is right in your case you need to look at how you’re fueling pre, during, and post event. It’s hard to gage when you’re starting out where the shock factor to being new to training starts, and where more general fuelling ends. But yeah, have a think about the food you’re eating and how much liquid you’re taking on board through those 3 different periods.

Don't listen to Tommy, he's just worried a young whipper is gonna jump into B cat and whup him. He's trying to fatten you up

😁

He’ll have to jump over all the sand bags in C cat first!

Remind me of what was agreed for tomorrow's race - is it all go when clock hits zero from wherever our start line happens to be, or are we doing some sort of neutralised ride together / lead-in before the flag drops?

Also are we still doing the series as a GC competition with non-attendees getting slowest time plus 10%?

Wendy and I had our boosters yesterday. We had Pfizer. I've had no ill effects yet other than minor soreness in the arm.

As far as I recall it is a rolling start then someone types Go on the screen and everyone leaves us behind

And yes, a GC format with no shows getting the slowest time +10% :okay:

enough to pedal home a bit quicker tomorrow ?
only entered A cos it told me to - was instantly dropped as usual and me and think it was 3 others rode together , wasnt going too mad as i thought the B,s would be on us soon and i would ride with them - but didnt realise that you didnt see the other cats but it was nice to have a bit of a go
still going to ride in rgt though - their system seems lot fairer even though they dont take size into account
there are compititions on there and i had a one in 25 chance of winning £250 the other day
ended up winning a pair of socks - but what a pair ! might be able to keep company with the pongo wearers !
