Put me in bubble wrap and shag me sideways if this wasn't the hardest I ever rode a bike! What a race! What a battle!

Did @Joffey dirty on the last section of the KOM - relentlessly hanged on to his wheel, waited for a slow down on a hairpin and then dropped a little sprint to get ahead. I think after that you waited for @steverob? I believe I was about 10-12s ahead of you two on the top of the hill, I think. Then it all melted on the descent, they got in front by about 30m but I managed to bridge on the flats. Then we kind of kept together until the finish. Then I confused the route banner for the finish line and did a sprint. Got a massive cramp in my left calf, stopped pedalling and realised there's still 400m to go - so I did another sprint, with the cramp

Well... At least the number is now nice and round ^_^

Thank you @Joffey and thank you @steverob for a great little battle and pushing me to the limit:boxing:

Thank you @bridgy for organising!

I did notice you weren't keen to put your nose int the wind! Fair play - I did the same on the flat after the climb :okay:

Ha! I thought it was a clever ploy by you - you leapt off the front at the lap banner to catch us off guard and so wrap up the final sprint before it could even happen. Didn't realise it was all by mistake!

Having said that, I had nothing left by then - once the final effort over the Leg Snapper was done, while I had enough energy to maintain a steady 2.5 w/kg pace for the final few km, there was no acceleration in my legs any more - I could not have outsprinted anyone even if I tried!

Well @berty bassett you may have climbed the KOM 2:22 quicker than me, but I took a solid FOUR SECONDS out of you on the descent so I think we can all agree I got the last laugh there :cuppa:
Bloody well done to the three of you out front! That’s some serious W/kg 👍

I’d be interested to see everyones Strava times up the hill. I know personally I put out 330w average which is good number for me, and lee still put a minute into me at least I think. I think maybe I could of gone harder on the lower gradient sections if I’d had more experience on the course but that only a claws few seconds back normally.

I don’t know… this stuff can be very marginal can’t it? I don’t mean the margin between myself and lee but moreover across the whole field really.

I was unfortunately called away to cook, however the video (mostly of Peter) can be found >>>HERE<<<

Strava says 28:51 - 15.5 km/h - 207W - 174 bpm

I thought we’d have you for company to be honest the way you started. But I think the pace went unsustainably high near the bottom. But then after you’d gone backwards a bit you picked up again and knocked out a consistent pace the rest of the course.

Same with you Michael. I hope this doesn’t sound patronising because it’s not meant to. But every time I’m on a hilly course with you you hold on a bit longer than the time before. I think it’s only a matter of time before you’re there at the summit. Then we’re all going to be fukced if it goes to a sprint!

Not the first time I did something clever by mistake! Will definitely pay more attention next time - I was sure you both are going to get me.

@Peter Salt is that two more scalps??
Looks like it. Who's next? ;)

Well done @Peter Salt - was gonna ask if that was a PB but just seen your post!
Yeah, good progress. I'm also 1.8kg lighter then when I did the previous best so numbers in w/kg look even better :okay:
