Has anyone got the Wahoo TICKR Fit armband HRM?

If it is any good I think I'd prefer an arm strap rather than the chest strap.
I’ve got the Tickr,

I like it. Agree with @<Tommy>’s views on an arm HRM. The Tickr charges through a USB connection so no coin battery.

In other news of stuff that I like less, my niece gave my wife and I a bonus Christmas present - Covid!

We’re both triple jabbed so I’m hoping its just a crap couple of days, but not high on my recommendation list right now. Neither are Johnson and Javid and their hard to find LFT and PCR tests!

The numbers don't tally up on Strava apart from the HR. According to the data, you only burnt 436 calories for nearly 5 mins, but with a pretty high ave HR. The power calculated is low. I seem to remember you're riding with one arm in a sling, so will be compromised in performance.

All I can suggest is to ride on HR only, so altering all the resistance settings to allow you to ride mostly in Z2 at a comfortable cadence . ignore speed and estimated power. Unfortunately for you, Zwift and many others platforms derive speed from weight, height and a power meter. From there calories can be reasonably calculated along with relative effort and training load.

Power is king, all the information gathered over many years from professionals and others has given the likes of Zwift the ability to use the data to pretty accurately reproduce speed figures (albeit in a zero wind environment). I know Zwift numbers are pretty close from knowing my abilities outdoors and the numbers Zwift give me indoors
im using a 4iii left crank power meter mate lent me although i do agree with you it feels very hard for its readings , i do know if i run on the speed /cadence my power and ftp jump considerably

Might sound daft but any chance you’re getting brake rub on your rear wheel?

@Norry1 used a ‘dumb trainer’ up until quite recently so he’s probably got the best brain to pick.

I use the 4iiii @cyberknight and don’t have any issues with it. The efforts do feel a little harder than outdoors but I think that’s at least partly psychological.

The 4iiii you’re borrowing - have you connected it to the 4iiii app on your phone and updated the firmware?

It’s a left side only unit - would you say that the efforts are approximately twice as hard as you’d expect for real world efforts, by any chance???

Cycling one handed sounds hard
I would like to think that if it was me I would just be turning legs over to not lose too much fitness so when healed I could start proper with a few base / junk miles under my belt
Though in reality it is easy to try and find a way round a handicap to keep plans going - I did it and sort of regretted it cos it didn’t really get me anywhere just made things hard
But entirely up to you what you do mate, certainly gonna be harder to get your normal numbers with only 1 arm
Good luck

no , i doubt the owner has either hes not a smart phone kinda guy as for power output i know i can hold 20 mph on the road mid cassette at 85-90 rpm but yesterday i was at least 2 gears higher for the same speed, i might swap back to speed/ cadence and z power as it does seem extra hard , i have the set up by the back door with it wide open and a fan blowing on me so plenty of cooling but im dripping

Yes I did and quite enjoyed it - but I used like @cyberknight I was using a powermeter as well (Powertap pedals) and also had the rear brake open.

@cyberknight have you calibrated the 4iiii powermeter? If not, it is quite likely to be off.

Other than that, I agree it generally feels harder to me indoors.

yes its been calibrated just did a gear calculator and i should be getting 25 mph for the gear i was using not 21-22 at my average cadence

Are running Zwift at 50% trainer difficulty? If so that may explain gearing differences given gear ratios are halved.

Is that 20 mph irl solo? Or in a group?

Most people say riding in Zwift is harder than irl.

Perhaps a combination of the above and a lower level of fitness due to being off the bike for a while, possibly some fatigue and the frustration and hassle of setting the turbo up are all contributing here.

20 mph solo and with classic trianer i cant see a slider to alter difficulty i know im a bit down on fitness , my last decent ride pre crash was a solo metric century average 18 mph about 3000 feet of climbing so on the flats yeah 20 ish mph on the flat maybe .Commute is 10 miles and i used to average 18 + on a bike getting on for 20 kg loaded

Doesn’t sound wildly out, though. Everyone I know would say a trainer is harder than the road.
Sounds like the only other thing to do is make sure your weight and height are accurate on Zwift.
Think of it this way - when you get back out on the road you’ll be flying! 👍

Zwift defaults to 50% trainer difficulty on install. You can change in settings. Pros and cons for doing so.
Check weight and height as BL suggests.
Hope you recover quickly from your injuries 👍
