Ok, before I hit "go" on this event, a few things to confirm:

- I'm thinking a start time of 19:50 on Tuesday (as it matches what we've been doing in the ZRL which seems to at least be doable for most)

- due to the lack of weeks until the next ZRL season, I'll drop stage 1 of my original plan and we'll start with Royal Pump Rooms 8 in Yorkshire

- I've selected no late join, and for results to be published which I think is all I need to do to make it a "race"

- I will set it so only club members can join so if anyone on here wants to join in but isn't yet a club member for any reason, speak up!
All sounds good to me :okay:

I'm either lucky, or an idiot. Maybe both?!

I just bought a bike based on the manufacturers recommended size for my height, never adjusted the bars or stem etc, lined the saddle up "about right" the day I got it and haven't moved it since. Threw the cleats on my shoes somewhere that "looks about right" and never had any issues with discomfort (unless I am out of shape - then everything hurts all over and I don't blame my lack of bike fit for that!).🤷‍♂️
That's OK if you're happy being "Mr Average"

Haven't done my RGT ride yet but I was thinking of using it almost exclusively for crit racing. That way my ZP results (and category) won't get skewed by short races. I also heard it's a bit more realistic with all the breaking and accordion effect and whatnot.

I'm enjoying doing a few very short races at the moment. There's not many, but there are a few if you look carefully. The idea (in my head) being to keep well under 20 minutes so the 20 minute power doesn't skew things. I don't know how it might affect the new "category enforcement" though.

Same here did my first TT on Tuesday 22 minute balls out effort pretty pleased ^_^, but thankfully it was smack bang on 3.2 w/kg so didn’t affect my cat rating

Is it a max effort your doing as that would be good training :okay:

Yes. Balls to the wall for the full 6 minutes. One circuit of Laguardia

Unfortunately my 20 minute all-out is just high enough to push me into B (as I found out on my first Crit City race - 1 result - rammed straight into B on one result), not a problem on longer races as I can't do it sustainably.

Same here on longer races won’t touch 3.2 so safe in c for a while
Will look at shorter races less than 20 minutes

Yep, those LaGuardia races are good fun. You can ride them either by trying to save yourself for the sprint, or just by ploughing along at max wattage for the duration to try for a power PB (for me, the outcome is generally the same because I've always been cooked by the sprint). I got a 5-minute power of 383W in one...

Don't be afraid to get upgraded to B, though. You'll improve vastly more by stretching yourself with the Bs (maybe in mixed-cat races?) than by sitting comfortably with the Cs and sprinting!
