Lots of options .... but these leagues and racing is still relatively new and immature in development so I think we will see it get refined as time goes on.

In the meantime, play within the rules, and enjoy the ride.

They are new. But you know I think they’re making it more complicated as time goes on. I get the impression they’re overthinking a bit.

Maybe this is another example?

This season will see a new conclusion format over races 7 and 8, involving every team and aiming to rank every team against each other ahead of the new season startingSEPTEMBER 13TH 2022. Leagues will be grouped and divisions divided at each round to create 'super-divisions' where competition will be much fiercer! Note that currently Race 8 is provisionally scheduled for SATURDAY 21ST MAY.

“Leagues will be grouped and divisions divided at each round”

Maybe I’m wrong but does that mean racing different teams each week rather than racing in a conventional league with the same teams throughout a season? If so why?…

I read that as race 7 will be a small number of 'super leagues' with teams ranked. Then based on results race 8 will be re-ranked to get teams more evenly matched.

Then, I assumed, they would use these results to rank teams into the normal league sizes for the next season ... but of course, it could also mean they change leagues each week in September which I see no logic for and as you say is over complex.

Of course, the flaw in their logic with my reading of it is, they're assuming each team keeps the same members from now until September, ad their fitness stays roughly the same. Neither of which will happen.

Splitters gained Rich this season but lost Dylan. CCC lost me and Al, but gained Nick, Peter and Alex.

I guess we can only race those in the pen with us, and use the 'rules' given so I can't get too excited really. As Rach would say to me .... worry about what you can change and control, not what you can't.

It says “starting September” that new system will apply. So I assume it’s regarding next season rather than this post season. If that is correct we’ll, think about the great battle we’re having this year with Jura. That’ll go, and it’ll all become slightly anonymous won’t it.

Rach was right of course. In fact there’s no need to worry about anything per se, with regards zwift is there! But often in life you can change things via protest can’t you. Any else is a little defeatist to my mind anyway.

Would be a strange set up if that is how they go .... can't see many people supporting it as the league system seems to work really well, unless they somehow turn it into a ranking points ... but as you said earlier, seems overly complicated.

Let's smash Jura this season and see how it pans out :ninja::gun::boxing:

Exactly. They could even make it fun with a cartoon broom wagon you have to stay in front of or get no points. It could be x minutes or x% off the lead which might vary according to the terrain.

That would be hilarious

Fwiw I don’t understand the rules . I do think that bar individual TT and TTT’s more of the races should be longer. I appreciate its not part of their racing strategy but it’s a shame that VO2 max has a disproportionate impact on the racing , unlike IRL where endurance is a significant part of a racers quill.

In theory fine, but in practice not ideal given we already finish close to 9 o'clock most races. Anything longer and I'd be out as I hate racing so late in the evening. I think 1 hour races is about right for Zwift during the week.

I think the nature of the indoor trainer 'beast' means that really long races (>1.5-2hr) are unlikely to ever be really popular.

Yeah, I know timing doesn’t really facilitate longer races.
It won’t be popular but shifting the league to the weekend this winter would suit me.
