Carl, I know you are in the middle of lejog but perhaps try and do some long sustained efforts too. At least 50km and perhaps with a nasty climb thrown in too so you make from sustained effort into something that taxes you aerobically. You will need to fuel for them but they are hugely important in building stamina and enabling you to build on your power. I did this 2-3 times per week in the autumn with a nice 30w plus jump in ftp with 3 kilo weight loss.

Zsun 2 hours will be more than enough to start with, then WBR 60miles followed by WBR 100miles

The weight loss I could do with :okay: I'm looking to find a 3 hour slot so I can do a 100 km but never seem to have the time.

Carl fasted rides are low power zone 2 rides. It's not for everyone, but if you can ride an hour and then add carbs if you begin to suffer, the body takes calories from body fat in the first hour

Interesting info about Valgren's victory in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad the other day.

The first 50 km only required 191 watt avg. I'm a bit surprised Michael Van Staeyen in the breakaway only avg. 265 watt during those 50 km.
When the hills began to pop up, the avg. rose to 280 watt over a 50 km stretch.
On the Muuren he started with 766 watt, dropped to 470 watt end finished at the top with 656 watt.

Here's a link to the final attack that got him the win:

Numbers you, I and many others can attain. The difference is after 4hours of racing and their weight being usually 60kg ish. Trainer Road do a workouts specific to the burst the Danish rider did. 150-180% 15secs then ride at FTP for 10mins.
