I might be able to join the odd Friday going forward, but not sure when and how many just yet.

Nice. If you catch the link in my signature you should always be able to find the latest race links (except today obviously because I haven't done them yet for next week onwards  Race links should all be there now but I haven't chosen the courses yet.)

Random question but I think it's came up before - anyone take creatine supplements? For cycling or otherwise. I know the benefits aren't massive but aside from pretty minimal weight gain/water retention seems to be mainly upside for all round health? If it doesn't hurt your stomach.

I took it some years ago, I couldn't tolerate it. Made me feel really dizzy. I did the high loading method at the start, which was probably the cause of my issues. I suggest starting low and gradually increase to level recommended

I know others swear it really works for explosive power recovery.

So this week in Friday Smash, we're going for a lap of Downtown Dolphin (2.1km, 17m) for race 1 (no draft, no steering).

and 2 laps of Issendorf Express (one of the new NY routes 14.5km, 106m) for race 2 (draft and steering ON)

Fresh outta stage 5. The climb was always going to be my downfall from being with the leaders. I managed to find a small group and we kept together till the end. I went for my sprint, all was going well until my calves went in to full cramp. I had to stop pedalling having dropped my pack. I thought I had just enough speed to roll over the line, but my chaser had ideas

Video starts at my sprint

Same event as Andy a couple of hours later . With the leaders at the bottom of the climb despite doing my 2nd best time on the climb found myself with 2 others just off the back of group 2 ,despite all 3 of us working we couldn't close the gap on the downhill so that was that . Group 4 kept us honest until about 6 km to go where they seem to give in and the gap went out . So having been it a 3 up on Friday don't say I didn't learn anything went into Micheal mode and drafted the crap out of the others and just out sprinted them both😂. 1 guy went early and I just rolled him on the line 😁 for that all important 39th place, 30th on zp

I take it daily, 5 grams every morning - I weight train so I do it primarily for that work.
It's definitely proven for muscle building and strength. Maybe less impact for long steady cycling rides but I'm thinking it probably helps for the big sprint efforts at the end.
I don't notice any weight/water gain but then I've taken it for years so maybe I just don't see it now?

I think it's a pound or 2 of water retention weights so not much and I'm not sure if lasts. I'm doing 100 press ups a day for January and 10 pull ups so it's primarily for recovery from that but does seem to be some evidence for those short bursts as you say.
