The resistance seems all over the place. Fine on Wattbike’s own system, but on zwift I was spinning out loads. I didn’t suss out where the gradient is shown and I’m also getting to grips with the atom hoods, so hopefully that has something to do with it.

Gradient is displayed in the top right. Below is the profile you're on and upcoming. There is a little arrow indicates your position on the profile. Were you able to change gears or simulated gears on the Atom?

Berty I was spinning out all over the shop! Because I didn’t know which gear I was in, or the gradient I was on, I couldn’t pin it down to one or the other. The rubber cover is a poor fit to the hoods. Loose at the bottom around the down shift button. So you can down shift by mistake by squeezing the rubber below the push switch. I’m going to take Stanley knife to it tonight to cut away the access rubber.

The delay in shifting isn’t as bad as some had described it. Maybe it’s inproved, or maybe I should reserve judgement a little longer. I’m hoping zwift and the atom are comunicating properly. Apparently zwift have an atom unit to trial and intend to implement an on screen gear indicator but “At some point this winter” according to their customer services. It would make life easier knowing which gear I’m in. I’ve tried to put the Wattbike app on the iPad with zwift on the big screen but it won’t work. Maybe because they’re both using Bluetooth. So I’m wondering if I can use ant+ and Bluetooth simultaneously.

Don't cut it yet Tommy, just incase!

I know what your saying Andy, but the unit is working fine. If it developed a fault from this point on then I’ll return it under warranty. Not because I don’t want it. They can’t reject a warranty return claim because of cosmetic damage unrelated to the fault. Plus I’m quite handy with a Stanley blade!

Tommy,
I thought you had been using all your free time to read up:rolleyes:

Go to zwiftblog which is a cracking resource for all things Zwift including setting trainer difficulty etc. And course selection via Zwift hack or preference. You may not want to be stuck on Richmond when it comes around.
Titanium geek has an excellent Zwift guide and If you are on FB there is an Atom users group too.

I may have to pop over and try it out once you have it working fine in Zwift.

1st for me last night, snapped my chain mid ride... wish I could blame the watts I was producing - BUT I CAN'T.

As an above average size chap the volcano route worked well for me, I found that it was easier to keep my cadence around 90 with a 5% incline, when the course goes above 5% I struggle with the resistance. I tend to train @ 100% difficulty but find racing @ 65% difficulty better for keeping my legs spinning.

If your using both ipad and big screen have zwift use the power source but not controllable trainer.
When using TrainerRoad and zwift i have trainerroad on tablet and zwift on pc, on the pc i use the neo power source only took me a while to figure out how to have both running

Dean using this method does the resistance change with the gradient in zwift?

I hope you’re using the words “free time” loosely! ^_^ Last night I took multitasking to another level...

I need to look at that zwift hack cheers. I might just try and do one of the Wattbike climbs tonight to get used to the unit. You’re welcome to come over and have a go. I’m not sure how my missus will respond when the two blokes go up to the spare room in spandex, but she’s pretty open minded ^_^
