:laugh: Na, but it was a bloody big beef joint and only I have been eating it. Anyway, had the last slice at 4pm in another beef sandwich so sadly this will be the last beef update! :sad:

We had chicken and lamb for Xmas. Last few slices still in fridge and will be gone tomorrow. Visited the in-laws yesterday and brought some of their turkey home with us. That will be our madras tonight 👍

Hi all, been off cyclechat for a long time, mainly as most my riding tends to be irl. Like many I've eaten too too much recently and the weather will mean I spend more time on the turbo than I would like.

It's unlikely I'll join any race series as I just can't commit, you never know the sun may shine on the odd day. I will be looking to get a few rides in, maybe the odd ace against familiar faces, not that I'll be threatening the podium in any way.

I am mainly here for the banter and motivation to use a turbo instead of eating cheese and crackers when the rain is pouring down.

In the real world you’d be stood by the side of the road Japan right now on google translate, trying work out how to say “Anyone know how to get to Westbury, UK from here?”

Know which I’d prefer! 😄
Or I'd have bailed as I reached the finish line at the end of lap 2 :laugh:

Hi all! I'm glad to have found a designated Zwiftland! As you can tell from my name I'm familiar with Zwift and after a break I'm looking to get back on the saddle. I'm not 100% indoor but I will be until about Springtime. Up to then it's all about building my fitness so I can get out and enjoy my local roads and not be a sweaty, blubbering mess!

I saw an advert for Fondo season starting this weekend and aim to complete the shortest loop - any more will be beyond me at the minute! I'll probably look to run the Bambino Fondo training plan and then the Gran Fondo training plan which should see me up to March. Fingers crossed the weather won't be horrendous then but it is Yorkshire!

If I can stick to this schedule until March then that will probably be the fittest I've ever been at that time of the year! What are other people's plans for 2022? Any resolutions or targets? Has anyone let themselves go like I have and need to stop devouring mince pies!?

Welcome, I let myself go a bit through Nov and Dec, got to build fitness for a tour in may , Caen to Santander so about 700 miles in eight days.

Beyond that no plans, although I have mentioned to the wife that if we holiday in France I will be taking the bike. Looking at the Alsace region and a few small cols there.

@kipster
I just googled and it looks like you'll be riding over the Channel.

Fortunately we get a big boat over to France. We're taking a couple of vans to carry all our stuff so not proper touring, but most doing it are 50+ so cheap hotels are preferable to bus stops for sleep.

The numbers don't tally up on Strava apart from the HR. According to the data, you only burnt 436 calories for nearly 5 mins, but with a pretty high ave HR. The power calculated is low. I seem to remember you're riding with one arm in a sling, so will be compromised in performance.

All I can suggest is to ride on HR only, so altering all the resistance settings to allow you to ride mostly in Z2 at a comfortable cadence . ignore speed and estimated power. Unfortunately for you, Zwift and many others platforms derive speed from weight, height and a power meter. From there calories can be reasonably calculated along with relative effort and training load.

Power is king, all the information gathered over many years from professionals and others has given the likes of Zwift the ability to use the data to pretty accurately reproduce speed figures (albeit in a zero wind environment). I know Zwift numbers are pretty close from knowing my abilities outdoors and the numbers Zwift give me indoors
