Wahoo speed play PM pedal reviews up.
Just watched Lama’s video on these.

He has basically said it’s the new gold standard for power accuracy (yes even compared it to Tacx Neo ) but tbh he is comparing three sources in each comparison and they’re all within a watt or two of each other.

It seems to me that we’ve reached a point with power meter tech where there aren’t any poor performers. Pedal based is the hardest format and even there all the options from Garmin, Assioma, and now Wahoo are considered accurate.

It doesn’t surprise me it’s considered more accurate than the neo. Everyone knows the neo drastically under reads :cuppa:

I have Neo 2T and Quarq DZero and I have surprised how close their avg. power readings. For example today i did 1hr13min ride on Zwift and Neo 2T avg. power was 159W and Quarq 158W. So for me it's a myth that Neo measures lower readings.

As much as I appreciate your experience, there is plenty of much larger sample sized evidence that says the opposite. It’s great your two power meters are so closely matched though.

Yes I know and i have read about those opposite experiences as well and i have no objection for that. My Specialized is a P2M NGeco power meter, not done comparison yet with a Neo 2T but maybe i will do that as well as a love for sport.

Not our best performance ever but solid with some new FTPs set. 5th place on the night which isn’t far off what we would have expected based on the previous TTT. @JLaw tactically sat up midway through lap 1 and waited for us with his fresh legs until we came round on lap 2 and he dragged us to the line.
That leaves us in 2nd place overall, 1 point ahead of the team behind so it'll be squeaky bum time next week 😂

How did Splitters fair?

Well, after yet more illness and injury we were down to just 3 until yesterday when we managed to draft in my mate Rich who's never really raced on Zwift let alone done a TTT! So it was me, Tommy, Bram and and Rich.

Bram was not feeling well either but heroically both turned up, and turned himself inside out- quite literally based on the retching sounds coming over discord! - to complete the ride as we needed all 4 of us to finish of course.

Rich did really well- got his highest ever 20 minute power and an instant upgrade to Cat B for his efforts! And somehow, we pretty much maintained the 30 second gap on the team behind us, and came 5th overall, which keeps us in 4th. A pretty good result in the circumstances I think!

Well it wasn’t so much tactical as just making the best of a bad situation. Jeff had his trainer disconnect just as the team were getting to the top of the final climb on the first lap and by the time it reconnected he was 30 seconds back, so we thought it best he wait at the start of the flat section and use his fresher legs to help us home!

Nice set of power meters!
They are done job nicely. L and R balance is the only feature which isn't reliable with those spider based power meters. P2M shows almost 50/50 and Quarq shows many times something like 55/45 so better just ignore balance feature. About those Wahoo power meter pedals, they seem to be bit pricey comparing to other power meter pedals or what are you guys thing?.

I’m slightly biased. I have the exact same two power meters 🙂

I really like them both for what it’s worth. But for me my left / right balance is the same on both (52/48 pretty much the whole time). I don’t know why yours are inaccurate they shouldn’t be maybe you want to send them an email?

Value for money wise I’m not sure juhal to be honest. When I bought mine they were the best available really. The gold standard I guess. Power meters were more pricey in general. And peddle based pm’s like Garmin were much less reliable. But now the pedal versions like assioma and now speedplay seem a lot more reliable. And you can get the assioma spindles for around £400 so maybe it’s hard to look past that.

Actually overall power readings are more important for me than left and right balance. It’s also difficult to tell which one is closer the truth Quarq’s balance or P2M balance. If i send email to both company’s about that issue they probably accuse each other ^_^.
