If I go road I can probably hang on to the lead group on flat sections, but then get dropped as soon as we get to the climbs.Only 16 riders, and looking at the time gaps at the finish of yesterday's race I'm not sure there were many "blobs" of riders for very long - groups of 2 or 3 at best. Also, difference in abilities means we're effectively not all racing each other anyway, just those closest to us. In a big ZRL race or something I'd probably agree with you, but in a small race like ours I still think there's something to think about
On gravel bike no chance of hanging on to you lead guys but I think I should be able to hold on to the next group back (i.e. behind me Rich and Michael last night) and then have a big advantage when we hit the dirt sections. But not enough of an advantage I catch anyone up the road (assuming they all had road bikes)
So question is, would any of this really change the position I come in the race? Something to ponder when I look at the course in more detail, but I think TRON feels the obvious option as always
