Today was a real struggle. I didn't miss the start and I didn't miss that attack but I just couldn't get up to speed - it felt like an excessive delay on the accelerator  After getting dropped and trying to bridge my body just said 'nope' - legs gave up, liver started to ache and I felt out of breath. Shockingly, this was my best 1 min. power to date  (366W, 5.35W/kg). Considered tapping out.

Good thing I haven't. Very pleasant ride with @CXRAndy in the end - cheers mate. Tried to preserve some energy for the sprint only for you not to contest it. Annoying! ;)

Thanks for organising @bridgy and congrats for your podium. As always, congrats to @berty bassett for another victory and @<Tommy> for another second place. Solid performance all round from everyone!

I'm going to bed now like an old man 😢

You'll be firing on all cylinders once you have got to grips with your new arrival 👍

Well done everyone. I watched the race from @Ketty's viewpoint whilst sanding my big bald head and trimming my beard.

Super impressed with the ease @berty bassett maintained his spot at the front... 140 HR whilst others around are in the 170s! @bridgy held on fantastically in the KOM and @Whorty did well sticking with the front group to the climb. Some really strong rides.

@Ketty surprised me with his strength too - although I should know, I ride IRL with him! Well done mate.

Looks like most of you have my number now... I seriously need to lose a bit of weight to be competitive in C. Diet starts Monday...

Heart rate is a bit misleading for me
The start of last night it was an easy pace when all bunched up but my max heart rate nowadays is about 168ish and I was dabbling in that area for the second half !
Me n Bob both have a low rhr, he has a higher max though so bigger range - what must be good 🤷‍♂️
I have to keep check on bp due to meds and if I sit down too long numbers get close to worrying - half the reason I find things to do - last time I checked bp and heart together it was 110/61 and 32bpm
Boarderline dead 😁

You know, I almost dropped back to you two as I was going well into the red to stay with the front 4. But once I committed I had to stay with them, get a lead, and hope I could hang on to the end.

Rich is a monster at keeping a good steady pace ... he'll be perfect for the TTT races .... I had a 70 second lead gong into the volcano and he slowly reeled me in and caught me with about a mile to go. I then did what I always do ... sat on his wheel and jumped him on the sprint (sorry Rich!)

When Peter was dropped I was like you, did a little dig on the front to make it stick as I didn't fancy racing him up the KoMs.

I think Rich is going to be a real asset in any race to be fair. With Ketty coming back strong from his injury and Irish Alan back in the squad it’s like having 3 brand new signings. Next season the competition for places in going to be tough! The only saving grace is that there’s generally a couple who can’t make it.

TP will do it, but I use intervals.icu (it’s free!)
@BurningLegs I'm just looking at intervals.icu now to see if it will be useful - how do you see your best ever power efforts? It gives the option of selecting for a period of time but I can't see how to see "all time" best figures?

Edit: Actually I just re-read your post and you said best figures for the year, so maybe scrap the above question! (Although if you do know please let me know anyway!)

One of the things i like about ICU is the ability to see improvement and then the effect of fatigue etc. The red dot represents a new measured ftp of 261 as the benefits of a lot of riding kick in and i race of Sa Calobra. But then accumulating fatigue and the effort that day and i am broke! The same thing happens on 20/03 , a day with 35km of climbing.
