Im catching up on RAAM, looks like GCN have stopped for some reason or there is a telemetry error. They're off the recognised course and not travelled any distance in quite a while now-could be sleeping as its middle of the night local time. ??

Mark Beaumont's doing it solo now isn't he?

Edit: just read on twitter that Mark Beaumont has indeed quit

Have you got a boot to wear. I had one after my cast. It was like a great big ski boot-you then inflated air bladders to give the right amount of support.

Best to get another opinion just incase 👍

Yes, have a boot to wear too. Crutches. Cold compress packs ... I have more kit here than the NHS (all bought by me, the NHS didn't give me anything lol)

Yes I tried and it help, better remember that not hang too long, maybe 30sec. Physiotherapist also give me homework what exercises I should do. Easily forget to do that when there is no symptoms . Need to check saddle height, it might be too high and lower a bit and see how it goes.

I lower saddle about 1cm and that did miracles. I had better power output, lower heart rate and my lower back was much happier.

I went to check on team Alaska that has a retired coworker who won RAAM mixed team for her age group a few years ago, but discovered they did the "Race across the west" RAW just the first 1\3 of the RAAM

Thanks for this and sorry to hear about your situation. I had a friend do it yesterday and he seemed to have no problems that I can see? Maybe they amended the course and he was later than you.

I know the route next week in my head and as such will check the aa route planner 👍🏻👍🏻
Yes, I think riders behind us were more fortunate. People from my group started calling race control and they put up detour signs and a bloke on a motorcycle that was waving people on the revised route.

Time does wonders - was feeling a bit annoyed on the weekend but now that's all gone. The organisers did apologise and offered a free entry to another event (to give them a second chance) and I took them up on it. I must say - everything up until that point did work really well.

Looking forward to the report on the Beast - maybe something to consider for 2023 for me :notworthy:

Yes, covid for his race partner. Mark started but would never be able to compete solo, so abandoned after a short while.
Shame that - was looking forward to their documentary about it.

You've lost your excess weight at the right time in life Tommy. 👍

What I mean is it's far easier than trying to do weight control and muscle building whilst still in your prime-relatively😁

Put in the work and get the results mate. There’s no real short cuts as much as we all wish there were sometimes, no matter what your age you can’t take liberties and expect the results. I know you like a diet but for me being consistent has worked better. Each to their own of course mate!

To put it all in proportion I have a cycling friend who’s 65 and did the ride London in 4 1/2 hours a couple of weeks ago. He’s never done a diet plan or a focussed training plan. He just eats what he can burn. Drinks lots of water, and sticks the miles in out on the road. It wouldn’t fill the first page of a ‘How to get in shape cycling book’ so no one would earn money if they published it. But if it’s good enough for Lee and our mutual friend Gerry. Then it’s definitely good enough for me! 😄

Guess I am lucky ( or unlucky ) that I struggle to keep weight on so I don’t have to put much effort in but I do believe that water is a biggy and goes without saying that if you burn more than you put in then body has to eat itself ! By the looks of Tommy I would think everyone is satisfied he ain’t weight doping ! I would think he weighs a fair bit less than put in
Maybe I am the same - I am now on the last notch of the belt and shorts still falling down !!
