How flat is this ride.
I am trying out my single speed legs atm, but this would be my longest ever SS ride.
The route of the last Southend one was about 620m climb in 96km. Which is pretty unhilly. I don't suppose this edition will be much different.

Here's a GPX track : https://ridewithgps.com/trips/3746693

I can't make this ride unfortunately.

was that the last southend ride? i seem to remember the motorway services as the halfway stop, and not going through stock.

Errr ... um. I dunno. It was the last one I was on. Nov 2014. Something may have happened since.

"Lunch" was at Stock, and Simon told a Princess Margaret story. As we approached the final cafe, we went along a path that was in the process of being very dug up.

The Ferry doesn't run on a sunday
Cutbacks in the service
Ferry hasn't run on a Sunday for a few years now. At least that's what I discovered when I rocked up, on the first leg of my Dungeness to Durness tour a few years back, and then had to find my way to Dartford after all. My plan to camp on Mersea Island that night replaced by a nights stay in a field near Billericay. Nearly gave up the whole idea right at the beginning, after getting involved in a minor RTA on the way. Saved by the happy coincidence of meeting User10571 on one of his solo jaunts down to Whitsatble , I think, who kindly escorted me to the Dartford crossing. So began one of my most memorable camping tours.
Thinking of coming back to these night rides, now I have the option of not doing a complete 5 day week after it. Be good to see some folks again, whom I dont see so much these days.

I'm in, and will attempt to break with tradition by not getting spectacularly lost between Liverpool St. and Paddington.
