Remember when we had to learn dates in History lessons and spelling in English?

It's going to be a fresh memory, if they can be bothered to revise, for GCSE candidates taking English and History examinations in 2017 with the rewritten syllabuses and courses being delivered from September this year.

Numerical grades are also coming back but perversely they are in reverse order. Grade nine is the highest grade and grade one the lowest. Some subjects will still be issuing letter grades until at least 2018.
