Check out Sublime. They are a couple of local guys, who make custom spec bikes to fit any budget (including paint job). I just bought a Zoku from them, and it's a cracking bike. It also comes in a disc version. They are more active on FB (haven't updated their actual website in awhile). Here's a photo of my bike:

If I had two grand I wouldn't spend it all on a bike, unless it could do something a bike at half or quarter the price couldn't do.

You certainly have a point there - ! Although I must admit that a new Paris Galibier 'frame only' @ around £2500 is tempting. But then what superb craftsmanship on said frame - ! :notworthy:

Funny. £2k is exactly the price we paid today for a 5-year-old virtually unused Mercian tandem. Candied apple red, too.
Last time I spent two grand on a bike it was for this one

The kids love it, though we've only had it a month or two so that might be partly the novelty factor

I am about to cash in a small pension and am in the happy position of wanting to buy a carbon bike for around £2000. The only stipulation is that I want the bike to have disc brakes. I am planning to cut down on running (really forced to cut down due to constant injury) and I have as one of my targets next year the Bristol to Bordeaux bike ride. One bike I have seen that does appeal is the Giant Defy advance 1 carbon.....
