That looks nice but who are the 'famous' Holdsworth?

Thanks. I have previously been (very) guilty of rushing in and buying 'bargains' which, well, turned out not to be bargains after all. The Felt looks a lovely bike and a really attractive offer but I am concerned about the componentry. If the bike will cost me £400, plus £80 for a decent saddle plus £300 to upgrade it to 105 plus plus then very quickly it looks like a lesser bargain.

...

Why would you need to spend £80 on a saddle ? - You *might* like the stock item (OK, probably not ;) )
I am more than content with a £21 Madison prime though (as used on the Genesis CdF).

And why the requirement to upgrade to 105 ? - Not much wrong with Sora (2013 onwards) unless you're desperate for the extra one gear or the hidden gear cables.

It's a pretty obvious answer, but you asked, because I know what works for me and stick with it. Better to spend £80one you know works for you than 5 x £20 trying those that may not, just like the one on my CdF doesn't. Same with the groupset - 105 is a pretty decent midpoint standard. Not too slick and not too clunky.

I'd go for a bike with 105 already fitted then, for example:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/felt-f75-105-2014/
Which is a significant step-up from the F95 over-and-above the 105 groupset.

Might be worth waiting a couple of months too - bargains to be had when outlets start clearing out 2014 stock (and even more desperate to move-on any 2013 stuff).

That looks a lovely bike indeed. Pity they don't have my size but I will keep my eye open for one of those.

Merlin have, don't forget quidco

In your part of the world (ish) too http://www.merlincycles.com/visit-us.html

the triban 5 (black version) is down at £329 at the moment.
Also the sizing. My OH is 6 foot 0 and was measured at a 60cm for his T3. Its too large for him and he would have been much better off with a 57cm size frame. After nearly 2 years of it, we are now looking at getting him a smaller bike to deal with the bad back it has been giving him.

Edit: ignore me on the T5 front. available sizes are only small....

I'm in all likelihood going to pick up a Triban 500 this weekend. Got my cycle scheme voucher through today, and I've settled on it. Test rode it round the store at Canada Water last week. I'm 5'9" and have short leg size in jeans (30"). I was recommended the 57cm which felt fine.

A quick search shows the bike comes highly recommended by many on here and I've seen multiple posts praising both it and its sister models. I was on the Decathlon website tonight though and saw this B'Twin Fit 500 Ltd - says it's a Road Bike but more Hybrid really: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/fit-500-ltd-road-bike-id_8306462.html#anchor_ComponentProductFeatures

It has Tiagra groupset and seems very cheap at £399. No stock at the moment though. Sort of wondering if I should pursue this (providing it comes back in stock) or go grab the Triban 500 this weekend?

Sorry to ask a stupid question - but I wanted a clear answer from someone who knows their stuff better than I do.

Tech spec wise: Is the Triban 5 better than the Triban 500?

Looks like it to me?....
