‘Run Of The Mill’, But Curious For Some Reason

Don't see many Hippos in the wild these days.
There's a 3-door FL1 not far from where we are, it looks essentially immaculate

Monday 22nd

Spotted on the drive home from my parents house
I’ll bet it still runs/feels a lot newer than the registration suggests?

The 'spare car' (the 'free' Corsa) has had its last trip with us
It's supposed to be collected by the new owner (family member) in August

Thus, with that it mind, the VED (£35) is due, so it's been SORN'd
The insurance is due next weekend*, that won't be renewed, so an 'auto-renewal' was checked for, & not in place :okay:
Since it was MOT tested last September, it's covered 565 miles, to date, as the trip-meter was zeroed on leaving the testing establishment
That's an average of just over 12 miles per week
(between the 2023 & 2024 tests, it only covered 244 miles!)

The new owner can arrange her own MOT test, closer to her home

* The renewal quotation was asking for £175, last years premium was £140

Monday 6th

The 'end of August' collection has now turned into "We're delivering it, at the end of October, whether you've got space or not!"

Well, l’ve been told by wife, to get it MOT tested, so it’s booked in for one of my days-off at the end of the month
I’ve already arranged a ‘one day policy’ on it
Research shows that it can be driven with no VED to a (previously arranged) MOT test, as well as with no ‘test’

As it’s only done the mileage shown above in the quote, & the testing station is less than a mile away, it ought to pass(?)

I just hope it’s uploaded to the DVLA so l can tax it too (£35?)

I’m then taking it over to her sister-in-laws, near Sowerby Bridge
(still refer to her as that, even though SWMBOs younger brother died last year)

Then they can electronically transfer the V5, & re tax it
She’ll follow me & bring me back

I have been assured that l’ll get my 2 costs back
Presumably l’ll only get £25 or so back, after only taxing it for a day???

(my plan was to just hire a transporter trailer, & leave it on her drive to sort out)

It’s going for the MOT test tomorrow, at the local garage we now use
(565 miles since Sept ‘24 test, SORNed since end of July)
‘One day’ insurance organised (07:00-06:59)
I’m glad l’m not paying a years premium at that price!!
£28.99 for the day
(£10,581.35 for a year!!!)

With regard to the above posting
PASS
Advisories on slightly worn (front) shock-absorber bushings & near-side wiper-blade

But, that'll be the new owners problem as of this evening, when I drive it to Halifax (& SWMBO picks me up)
I've taxed it, even though the DVLA isn't showing it as MOT'd yet, so to me that implies that the DVLA do recognise that it does have a certificate

“Goodbye!”

Dropped off, but the usual (westbound) 40 minute journey took well over an hour, due to the usual west-bound pinch points on the M62
- Gildersome/jct 27
- ‘Chain Bar’/jct 26

Then within the distance of the eastbound ‘off slip’, there was a RTC, blocking all 3 lanes

Eastbound traffic was backed up past jct24/Ainley Top

Westbound was slowed greatly by ‘rubberneckers’
I dropped it off, in the southern outskirts of Halifax, SWMBO picked me up, telling me the eastbound M62 was now closed

So, a slightly busy detour through Huddersfield

We took a bit longer then expected, but at least we weren’t strapped to spinal-boards, like the poor drivers in the RTC

We’ll still see it, as it went to ‘senior managements’ niece
