Is there any feedback from Welshielands about how this 20mph speed limit is going?
Has the country ground to a standstill?
Have billions been received into the Cymru coffers as a result of all these fines?
Are there riots on the streets?

No.

No.

No.

IMO, they have actually been surprisingly sensible about making roads exceptions to the new limit, so that most through roads with good width and visibility are still 30.

It makes a little difference to journey times, but not too much in my (very limited so far) experience. I don't think they have started enforcing the new limits with fines yet, though I don't imagine it will be long before they do.

One thing I had already noticed due to existing 20 limits though, is that my car really isn't designed to go that slow. In 4th gear (out of 6), it will be doing around 26-27 without my foot on the throttkle. I have to go down to 3rd before it will be about the right speed with no throttle, and even then it is borderline.

My car runs best in 2nd at 20mph unless basically coasting in third. (2.3 petrol turbo, albeit a flexible engine rather than hooligan tune)

Found MrsF's car was bumbling along at 1,500 rpm in 3rd at 20. Lumps had to be planned for, both going up and down, as you soon went faster from 'gravity'.

I'll have to be careful on my training routes in places as I am usually exceeding 20 on the push iron, especially with the wind (North Wales Coast).

An exponent is the number something is to the power of. Thus, "to the power of 3" ie "cubic" is exponential

In an exponential function , x is the exponent. Thus 3 to the power of x, 12 to power of x etc. In a cubic function, x is base with a max exponent of 3. Quite different.

I don't exactly follow your last point.

I followed and agree with the first sentence.

In the 2nd sentence I might quibble with the word "max" as "cubic" means "to the power of 3" so "max" doesn't really come into it

"quite different" I don't understand at all. What is different from what?

No cubic means the max power will be three but powers of 2 or linear may also apply. For instance y = x ^ 3 - 16x^2 + 235x - 42 is cubic and somewhat different to y = 12 ^ x
