We've got 2 nights accommodation at the Dartford Travelodge in a family room for £280, which isn't too bad. Yes, central London was expensive but being there helps us since we're off to France afterwards.

My parents have a trailer tent, so we will be camping (they decided to come down for a holiday with me, meaning I could use the trailer tent and save money) somewhere near Waltham Cross or somewhere (I'm not entirely sure yet). This is for the Paraolympics in September by the way, so the most traveling I'll have to do will be to get to Dorney for the Rowing and Brands Hatch for the Cycling.

People are not paying these prices though.

According to Press reports this is one of the worst Tourist seasons for decades.

There may be a surge in the next couple of months, but Weymouth and London are both reporting massive decreases. One report earlier this year had bookings down by 95% on last year!

There may be other reasons of course, but the Olympics are not living up to the claims at the moment.

Still our Grandchildren can pay the debt for us. Montreal cleared it's debts for the 1976 Olympics in 2007!

And as a country we're still paying off debts from the first world war... because it's cheaper to keep paying than to redeem the loan.

The government is beginning to think about issuing 50-year bonds, because there's a demand for them and because they get relatively more money than if they issue shorter bonds. That's a good thing in my book.

That has been intepreted to include the official signing.

Nope, still can't find anything to back that up. Have you got a link to the report, or an image or something? Or any evidence of that being reflected in the official signing? Because I have looked, despite my reluctance to do the legwork when someone claims a thing which sounds a little bit unlikely, and I actually can't find anything at all to back up your statement apart from the moanings of a French minority group and some misleading Daily Mail headlines.

As an aside, I understand that signage and texts at the Olympics is normally in three languages - English, French, and the host language so only two languages are necessary this year (source). The French text of the charter is presumed to be the "correct" version, by the way, and French is listed first in the languages which are to be used... but there is nothing in either version which states that French must be used first and above the language of the host country.

Telegraph, most business magazines, guardian, BBC, ITV, Sky, discussions on the varuios Olympic and Sports Forums, TES have all reported this.

Given the wide range it suggests that there is some truth behind this?

The London Olympics will be officially conducted in French with English as its second language, according to previously secret contracts seen by The Daily Telegraph.

The actual documents the Telegraph refers to is the "2012 Olympics Host City Contract Technical Manuals", in particular the "IOC Technical Manual on Ceremonies" available as an FoI folowing the judgement that these documents could not be withheld as "exempt", the excuse given for not releassing the information.

The wording of section "1.4 Required Elements & Protocol" states that :
