I make us about 50 runs short, but as you say, it's all about how many Smith and Marsh make tomorrow. Still, it's a close match so far which bodes well for the series.

I hope so! I am currently in Perth and have tickets for the third test so am hoping the teams are still close by then

Think once Smith goes, the rest will follow quite quickly. Question is, how long will it take to get rid of Smith...I know his test average is 60, does anyone have an idea what his average is on Australian soil? Presumably higher than 60...

Unfortunately stats don't work like that

What would be interesting is what is Smith's average in innings where he has managed to get to 60?

Actually it wouldn't be interesting, it would be a bit worrying

I wasn't being entirely serious

no idea but Cricinfo

Of the 41 times that Smith has previously reached a half-century, he has converted to three figures on a remarkable 20 occasions

Need wickets early. Feels like the lead/deficit could be quite crucial in a slow surface.

Might lose some time due to rain, showers forecast today.

I'm not at all jealous. One day, I'll make it to Australia or SA for the boxing day test.

Smith is a strange batter who was relatively average but has transformed himself. Steve Waugh was another one who got to world class without showing early indications.
Aussies all out for 278. You heard it here first...
