As title really!

I'm considering going for Panaracer Ribmos in the 700x23 size. I have had them on my hybrid (700x35) and done 1000 miles on it with no punctures. I have pulled bits of glass and flint out of them though but nothing has penetrated down to the innertube. Superb tyres imo - although heavy.

Now I have my new bike I have zero faith in the Specialised tyres its come with so on the look out for something better.

Should I grab another set of Ribmos or can anyone suggest something else? I hate carry tools and spares so puncture protection is top of the list!

What Specialized tyres are they?

Their Armadillo Elite 23's have done me very well over the past few years with my commute through SE London's pot holed, glass strewn wastelands. Very few punctures in that time. Very grippy too in all weathers.

Highly recommended.

They are "Specialized All Condition with Flak Jacket protection".

I'm sure a puncture is just around the corner.

My co-worker runs them on his bike. He has very little trouble also.
As long as you check the tyres on a regular basis, as you are doing. You will have no problems with them.

Done more than 2500 miles on the same Specialized tyres. Only had 1 you know what. I do pull all the flints, glass, etc out of them at least once a month and keep them at 110 psi.

Don't change your winning format!

I had conti gp4000s for a year, v fast. But terrible punctures. Michelin oriums for a year after that, not one puncture and v cute. 16 quid the pair.

I say keep the tyres on. These are decent enough tyres.
I had them on my Allez when new.

The thing is, though, 99 times out of 100, punctures are down to pure bad luck. You can't blame the tyres for that.

I have some Schwalbe Luganos which I find grippy and puncture-resistant. Don't know what the forum's opinion of these might be though ?

As Maz says most of the time it is down to luck, i ran luganos and binned them as i found them useless getting a puncture a day in 1 week and they got cut to shreds.

Now i run the conti gator hardshells and i am happy with them, i have had 1 flat in the last 6 months which is good going for me

The luganos as far as i know have now been replaced with blizzards which i have put on the weekender as i wanted a grippier tyre for wet road conditions and i found the conti ultra sport bad in the wet.

If you want the most resistant tyre get the marathon plus but they are a heavy tyre.

Schwalbe Durano Plus are an excellent compromise between speed and toughness- same Smartguard layer as the M+, only a bit thinner. Exceedingly hard wearing too.

I don't think there is any point worrying about punctures when it comes to choosing a tyre. I have schwalbe luganos that came with my bike and have a had a puncture per tyre in over 2,000 miles.
