9 punctures since I bought my bike - pretty much one a week, and had a run of 4 on 4 consecutive days once. Starting to think that maybe I should get new tyres! Thought maybe I was just having a run of bad luck, but really don't want to get caught out once the clocks go back soon. I've got specialised all condition now on my specialised sirrus.

Any tyre recommendations? Will try to find other treds on this as I know there have been a few posts before

thanks for any replies

Do the All Condition tyres have puncture protection ?..i think they do, so considering the following.

Don't know about you joanna, but i never deliberately ride within say 2 feet of the kerb, thats where most the grit, muck and stuff that'll puncture your tyres is.

Are your tyres getting on a bit, they will puncture easier as they wear out.

Do you keep them well inflated. Poorly inflated tyres puncture more readily.

Those All condition are really crap, had 4 in a week with them, bin ASAP.

Really?.
I Run All Conditions all year round through the shyte strewn pot holed streets of SE London with no problems.
Very few punctures if you look after them.

yours are the armadillo version though, the ops will be the basic ones that come as standard on a lot of the spesh bikes.

Oh yes, good point.... but.... what ever tyres you are riding. If you look after them then they will look after you.
After every ride it only takes a minute to check for any foreign bodies in the tyre. Dig 'em out and the tyre will last.

Too many punctures so I switched from bog standard tyres with little or no tread in the centre to Schwalbe Marathon Plus and I find them a bit 'twitchy' in slippery conditions. Pros and cons I suppose.

After many years of commuting I've settled on Specialized All Condition Armadillos. A bit heavy and solid, but really really puncture proof.

Check your rim tape and or inside your tyre for sharp objects! That many in such a short time is very suspicious?!?

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
I've been running a pair of Gatorskins since May, with Slime inners. 1300 miles later and no punctures or mishaps, despite a daily commute on main roads into/out of Leeds.

They're a bit heavier than the Conti Ultra Race they replaced, but certainly more puncture-proof.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I now use conti gator skin hardshell and find them great ,tried swcable lugano and got 5 punctures i 1 week and they got cut very easily.

If i was to change brand i would be looking at durano plus which will fit on bikes that do not have the clearances for marathons plus but still want very good protection.

+1 - for me these are the daddy's of commuting tyres. Commuting everyday I've had 2 pairs in 3 and a half years and never need to use tyre levers at the side of the road. They are heavy though!

Keep them at the right pressure, check for detritus regularly and and stay out of the gutter and most tyres will give you a fair bit of life.

I have 700x28 on the fixed I use for commuting and general running about, and 700x25 on the geared bike I use for Sunday club rides, I wouldn't call them heavy though. The only problems have been a very old tyre with side wall damage and a wheel that hadn't been cleaned up properly during manufacture, burrs on spoke holes and and detritus from the manufacturing still present, caused the only flat I've had on the Kilmeston in the 13 months I've had it.
