During todays ride, I called at 'Squires'
They have a glass case inside, with a display bike
Once more a CBX is in there!
I remember the announcement, & the appeal that it had, then Kawasaki brought out the Z1300 (I remember, was it, Arto Nyquist, & his antics)

There was one in there a few years ago, I'm not sure if it's the same one that's returned?

I'm sure an old work colleague of mine had a CBX and said it'd do a ton in first gear.

Maybe a bit of a stretch. My modern Triumph 1050 would do 60 in first and 90+ in second.

I can readily believe the CBX would do a ton in second though; maybe my Triumph too if I'd ignored the red line

Moving in to the 1990’s here are two of my old SC28 Fireblades 1993 and 1994. Great bikes and despite their reputation, very easy to ride.

I graduated to a Gixxer 11 straight from a KMX200 in the eighties.

I pulled on to the dual carriageway, opened her up, and next thing I know im hanging on for dear life as the engine smacks against the rev limiter at 90...still in first!

I was a young idiot and looking back Im lucky to be alive. Selling the the Gixxer to raise deposit for a flat and downgrading to a Kwak GT550 probably saved my life.

An insane sports bike with a very sensible boot - only Honda could do that 😆
A mate of mine had one of those Urban Tiger 'blades, another a ZZR1100 and I was the poor boy on an RF900. Back in the 90's we had quite a memorable trip to Big Scotland on those things 😈

Stunning bikes, but as the very short term owner of one I'm afraid I have to agree with the naysayers. Just couldn't get on with mine at all.

compared with modern bikes, they’re very crude, but still exciting to ride, they just need modern rubber.
