Well, I think that there are some folk that could do what they do here on any forum... but I have no idea whether they own a bike or no. Does it matter? On the scale of things, no.

It doesn't matter to me if you have a racing Licence or rent a bike at Centre Parcs once a year. On the old C+ forum someone who commuted to work five days a week every week claimed that he hadn't been on a bike just for the sheer joy of it for over 2 years !!
As with everything in life it takes all sorts.

What shoot you post. You don't have to be serious to be experienced, or even experienced to be serious. I suspect most of us just enjoy cycling whatever distances we do, and getting out and about with likeminded people, or seeing the world at a more sedate and intimate pace.

Which is a casual cyclist. And i mentioned experienced because its the experienced cyclists who tend to think they are serious cyclists, commuting 30 miles a day to work for 5 years does not make you a serious cyclist, just an experienced one.

Owning a bike does not stop you being a knob head either does it!

Ah - you've found the caps key (some of the time), and even the comma and full stop! Now you just need to work on apostrophes.

I dont know but what i do know is know body overweight can be considered a serious cyclist and many of the supposed experienced riders on this forum are overweight.

Couldn't agree more...

Cycled for 40 odd years
Haven't driven for 30 years
Own eighteen bikes from recumbents and folders to work bikes
Do all my own maintenance and servicing
Been a cycling advocate under Agenda 21 for County and Local Councils
Commute five days a week
Tour some 800 miles per year
Total some 6000 miles per year

But because I am overweight I am certainly not serious about cycling.

You are serious about cycling, but not a serious cyclist... Understand?

Just when you think you have cleaned all of the turd off the bottom of your shoe you realise you have missed a bit

The ones I don't quite understand are those who ONLY lurk in P+L (not those who wander outside that compound). I'm sure there must be better locations for a debate but perhaps they have come to enjoy their little spats with the known enemy. Other than that I think its a community with some shared interests which include the bike (be it real or a memory).

......who shall remain nameless, has a theory that there are more than a few members of CycleChat who don't even own a bike.

Do you think that's so and does it matter?

Name and shame

Perhaps the people who have had bikes stolen (sorry for your loss) would belong in the no bike category?
