Do you do the same with 'young men' too? What reaction do you get? Also @jonny jeez
I can honestly say that, despite seeing some atrocious stuff on the road, I've never offered an opinion, or advice as I see it mostly as a waste of time. But this one really bothers me because, despite the rider being very confident and in control, I can see it ending really badly for the sake of a couple of adjustments.

Oh it wouldn't make any difference to me whether the rider was a man or a women, although I do hope that, if the initial awkwardness is sometihing I can get past, that a female rider is more likely to take on board some suggestion...where as I can't help but imagine most men just wouldn't .

I haven't because in the time I've been commuting I have only ever been in traffic with two other cyclists. Once it was this lady who wasn't interested, the other time was a guy who was filtering behind me on the right of traffic.
Gender has nothing to do with why I spoke to her.

I'd rather not to be honest. If I were the cyclist we are talking about I wouldn't like the fact that guys are critiquing my riding styles on the Internet.. Besides, this isn't really an advice post, more of a hope that the rider was a member.

Sorry
Nup, I don't get this. You have given a detailed description of her, including when and where someone can find her, and suddenly you are worried about her feelings? How about a general article on how to turn right across 4 lanes of traffic, without specifically mentioning her errors? Maybe I could learn something too. I don't understand why you will only vouchsafe this information after she has revealed herself to you.

I know everyone here thinks you are being a top bloke, but it comes across to me as creepy and paternal. I really doubt she'd come forward, even if she was reading this thread.

From another female cyclist on this forum well done @johnny jeez. I don't think its creepy or paternal, i think it shows you care, want another cyclist to be safe and think your advice and knowledge may help and you have also let other CCers that cycle in that area know about another cyclist in potential danger.

If i was her i'd certainly thank anyone for making my journey safer.

I can live with that.

Regardless I'm not prepared to make this seem like a "bashing" thread, so won't be listing the issues that I think are the problem.

I would be delighted to contribute to an advice thread if someone wants to start one...but this thread was a call to cc members in the hope that I would'nt have to resort to actually verging on creepy, by stopping a lone female rider in the road and trying to offer advice....catch 22 maybe.

I do take your point but I'm afraid it ain't happening.

I have to disagree. If he had not given a detailed description, even if she is member and had read the post, she might assume it refers to someone else. Not all of us are our aware of our riding shortfalls especially after we done commuting that particular route as a matter of routine. With the detailed description even if she feels offended or thinks that he OP is creepy, paternalistic, overbearing, grandstanding etc, she might get someone else to help her or do some self-evaluation.

Hopefully OP can meet her on the road and offer advice. How she takes it or how others take it should not have a bearing when a human life is involved and the approach is sincere.

ps. I now understand why we adults stopped making funny faces to toddlers out of fun at a park and instead pat their family dog. I think we are going overboard with the PC thing. There might come a time when even looking at the family dog can be misinterpreted.

No because the helmet isn't pink and the bike isn't white

I am interested to see how this ends up, @jonny jeez.
Once I saw a young girl riding just behind me on a busy dual carriage way, I was in secondary, she was riding on the white lines in the middle.
Vwm behind was astounded, but remarkably did not pass until she turned.
I could have easily said something, but what without making her upset, maybe even more errant?
I chickened out. Still think about her sometimes, hope she is safe.

I've just got back from working on the continent so will keep my peepers peeled tomorrow. If I am succesful then I'll happily upload. Will I get extra points if I can convince the rider to do a selfie?
