I'm getting close to buying this T-bar and short chain and clasp. Getting close as in it takes me quite a while of comparing stuff to other similar ones for sale. I prefer this one as it has a clasp, so I could place it in the middle of that long chain I have for a full Albert affect, or double the chain and wear it from pocket to a close button hole for a half Albert, double chain affect. That middle link looks a bit odd to me. It looks quite thin. I must say that link is making me hesitate in buying the item. 🤔 But after much searching it's the only gold T-bar with a clasp I've found. There are silver ones out there for much less money, but silver on a gold chain...er maybe not.🤔 There are also brass ones, but non with a fitted clasp are to be found.

I'd pass on that one @Accy cyclist

The links are very worn and stretched, and it won't take much for them to rub through. Would cost too much to put right.

Keep looking.

How about this combination Reynard ? 🤔

I could ask the goldsmith I know to connect the clasp to the T-bar. He should be able to, probably having to slightly melt/soften the link on the clasp. The lobster claw clasp is on offer at 50% off till tomorrow, as in later today. I think this should work. 🤔

Well I finally found a T-bar and had it fitted. I bought the 4.7 grams, 9 carat circa 1915 for £135 off fleabay. The seller wanted £160. I asked the seller if they'd accept £130. He/she replied saying "I'll meet you halfway, so will £135 be ok"? I said yes thanks, as to me halfway would've been £145, so I obviously didn't quibble. It only arrived in the post today. I took the bar and chain to the goldsmith I know who softened the big ring on the T-bar and fitted it in the middle of the chain for a mere 2 quid. Now all I need is a weight or a fob etc for the end of the chain not attached to the watch. Something like a monocle will do the job. I'm not after a gold one as I've spent enough on this project! I think this one will be fine. It's 16.1 grams in weight, so heavy enough to keep the end of the chain in my pocket.

Carat and Karat are spellings you will see interchangeably in jewellery related texts. “Carat” as a spelling can refer to either gold purity or diamond weight, whereas “karat” can only refer to gold purity.
