The yellow & blue one.

I thought so. It will look different in the next game.

As mentioned above, the vehicles I'm using for tabletop games need a bit of work to make them fit the overall look of the game especially the rather brightly painted police car:

After some dismantling...

And painting...

It now looks a bit more like the rest of the rather tatty scenery...

It almost looks like a British police car. If you squint a bit, and ignore the fact the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the vehicle...

It turns out that when I put figures on the seats I sprayed a while back I found that they were far too high, so the upper edge of the window was about shoulder height for someone sitting down.

“Oh, dear” I said, or something involving “Oh…” anyway.

Then I cut all the seat supports down by 3 mm, which meant taking them off their modules, which broke the modules, so I needed to make new ones, and eventually it was easier to just respray everything and start again…

Remember this is a learning experience.

I’m back to making Pulp models again. This is partly because Elder Son and I have found it a great way to spend time together, which is a motivator, but also because tabletop games are more cartoonish than model railways, which allows me to dial down my usual perfectionism and just make stuff.

For various rather contrived reasons our version of Ascension Island is a mid-Atlantic hub for trade and travel. Companies from South America and Europe are throwing up warehouses as fast as possible, (as well as hotels and casinos for the wealthy tourists, but that’s for later), so here's the first under construction.

Further construction...

A few months back I made a “power station” using printed paper for all the textures. This worked reasonably well, but this time I decided to try painting the main building and using printed photos for the windows and doors.

With hindsight, doing this on a relatively large building with planked walls was possibly not the most practical way to test this idea, but there we are. The walls are now finished and painted, and in my usual manner repainted, then repainted again, then heavily weathered and dry brushed until I’m satisfied.

Also. a roof:

Great work, Andy.

I rather like the idea of a perfectionist lavishing time and effort making things look faded and worn.😁

I do seem to spend a lot of time doing this; the irony isn't lost on me either.

Meanwhile...

To my complete surprise I managed to find the figures to complete the carriage. They're actually made for architectural models so they aren't very well detailed, but they'll be fairly well hidden inside the carriage anyway...

Great!

The big question is whether the person in the WC will be sitting or standing?

(You have to have someone in the WC, no?)

Noch and Preiser do figures for filling a carriage with passengers. Painted and unpainted.

"Montaro trading" is complete.

2023_11_04_mantaro_trading_08.jpg

For various work related reasons I currently have a job some distance from my family and rent a small apartment, which means that all the Pulp buildings spend most of their time on a couple of shelves where they share space with the ridiculously large W-lan box.

2023_11_04_mantaro_trading_09.jpg

This means new models have to be built with thoughts of how they will be stored, and the latest two buildings were designed to take this into account.

Of course there are disadvantages to this; the brick “power station” is by necessity very small for what it’s trying to represent, and I’m going to have to think of some way to add an interior to the Montaro Warehouse, but it means that I’ve got two new buildings on the shelf for the bare minimum of space, and I can stack smaller buildings on top. Everything is great until the whole teetering pile falls on me when I try and take them down…
