Worked with a chap (functioning alcoholic) who used to do this although it wasn't always a medicine bottle. Took a while for colleagues and Management to work out!!
When my wife left, I was sad, upset and lonely. Since then I've got a dog, bought a new motorbike, slept with two other women and blown a grand on drink and drugs.
She's going to go f*g mental when she gets back from work.

I worked with an IT contractor who did stuff like that
he used to have to "go and get a print out" quite often
which meant going to the far side of the computer room and being out of sight while getting it off the pile of other prints
although - to be fair - the alcoholic who was the biggest problem (collapsing in the office was the final straw!) was less obvious unless you knew him
or checked his work
both these worked for me when I was leading a team of 25 programmers
my view that neither should have their contracts renewed were ignored on several occasions
