Glad it wasn't worse @Jon George, you seem to have kept your sense of humor in spite of the off! GWS!

Oh my, this must have passed me by, sorry to hear it.
Is there a link to the ride report, any pictures? ^_^
No offs for me this year ... yet, there's still time!
EDIT: forgot that I had a minor fall in the summer, almost stationary, no harm done apart from a wee bruise on my arm.
You gave me a like for it so did see it at the time but it was back in January: Link to the report. I lost interest in taking photos at about that point in the ride for some reason.

3 incidents this year, 1 heavy fall on tramlines, 1 slow speed crash on a descent (knew I wouldn't make the corner and tried to stop) and 1 bee sting about an hour after the slow speed crash. That wasn't a good day!

Mmm, where do i start? Let's see. In March i hit a 6 inch deep pothole on one of Colin's CC ride outs, bruising my delicate bits, then in August some other rider on a club run fell over and landed on me, breaking my right hip. Then 3 weeks ago after a recover from the broken hip ride i came home then slipped outside breaking the same hip again which needed pinning. Apart from that not much really.

These things have replaced my bikes as my means of transport over the last three months.

Oh yes, just the one: https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/crashed-on-tuesday-6-broken-ribs-and-scrapes.199702/

It's recently been discovered that I tore some tendons on my hip and need a hip arthroscopy to repair these, which I'm waiting for.
Have you thought about getting some of these? I'm going to buy some.

Nope ... just doing my best to not fall off again, particularly on the RH side.

Someone said similar on a reviews/comments section of an advert for hip protector shorts. They said that the shorts wont help much in a fall and the best thing to do is concentrate on not falling off. That sure is easier said than done! A bit of ice on the road, a sudden object darting out in front of you. I think i'll rely on padded shorts to save my hip in future, not foresight.

See "assessing the Risks of Ice" thread for more scary stories.

I came off my hybrid in September when the back wheel hit a diesel spill. Later, Cyclemeter said I was doing 29.8 mph with an impressive cliff face and a flat line on the graph. I remember thinking "Thats a bad smack" as my helmet hit the road. I dimly remember putting my bike handlebars back round the right way and wiping the diesel oil off the back wheel. A nice lady stopped and offered to ring home for me but I do not know what I said in reply.

Six miles further on, I came to riding my bike. The Apple chime going boiiinnngg would have completed the scenario as my brain rebooted in big lumps of memory and I became aware of my surroundings. I rode along telling myself my name, date of birth, my address and other bits of personal information considered somewhat essential in todays world. I saw a lady walking a dog and stopped to ask her if my eyes were OK as I thought I had concussion. She replied that she didn't know about my eyes but had I seen my arm? Looking down, the left arm of my rather swish italian cycling jersey was saturated with blood.

When I got home I was unable to explain why I had completed the cycle route I had decided on when I set off on my ride rather than taking the shortest route home. My brain seemed to have restored to last saved version. I also suffered a nasty egg shaped thigh wound which stung like the devil for about 2 weeks.

The nurse in the doctors surgery were impressed with the damage as they patched me up and told me off for riding home with concussion.

Three months on I still do not know where the accident actually occurred - I was only able to work out the approximate location from my cyclemeter graph.

Which leads me to ask.

If you see someone who has come a cropper on their bike, do you stop and ask them "Are you alright? Do you want me to phone home for you? Can you remember your name?" And if you suspect that they have concussion, what do you do to protect them?

Or do you keep it short, as the gentleman who came to my aid on a previous fall cheerfully exclaimed, "ay ya went doon like a bag o' shite!"

Very minor.

Walking pace, turned front wheel, toe overlap hit front race blade which in turn touched and locked front wheel.
