I snapped my spine in two with no clothing damage, a little scratch on the bike, but big black bruises where 4 ribs snapped. Stupid car drivers. That wasn't this year as it was late Nov 2015. I did bang my shoulder up badly this year on the MTB, but hey ho, the Black Runs will be easier next time with two working arms.

A word from the wise. Avoid A&E unless you know something isn't right and is pointing the wrong way or has sprung a bad leak. The clout from the 'other half' will hurt more.

Fell off on a trackway 6 weeks after my l/h hip operation in April, luckily landed on my back. Fell off 3 weeks ago on a slow speed corner and fell smack on my right hip which was replaced last May, that's been sore ever since. no lasting damage, just very tender

Very nearly went over on a patch of wet seaweed the other day. God knows what I was doing when I thought I could ride through it uphill. I seem to be very good at stopping the 'ouch moments'....touch wood.

I average one unplanned dismount a year usually but after three incident free years, this one has been interesting:

Feb: Commuting, shoulder check, looked forward to see pedestrian had stepped out from between cars, looking left according to witnesses, hit ped and went over the bars, land on left shoulder.
Jun: Down the slip road at Connah's Quay in a torrential downpour, onto roundabout covered in diesel, lost the front, road rash and bruising
Oct: Hit by ATV's wing mirror and dumped into hedgerow, driver didn't stop
Oct (same ride 100km later): On NCN at night, blinded by security light, hit raised curb laid horizontally across path, over the bars, land on left shoulder
Nov: Commute home, left hooked, over the bars and clear the bonnet, land on left shoulder at speed.

Left shoulder is getting somewhat sore.

I came down last Saturday when my mate hit a patch of ice and went down and took my back wheel with him. Luckily I just has a graze and slight bruising on ankle, knee, hip and elbow.

Three crashes this year all on the same ride  The Wild Atlantic Way Audax ,The first crash was in the early hours on day four roughly 700 miles in when I fell asleep on the move, woke with a start and promptly rode into a wall  which resulted in a heavily bruised upper arm, the second crash was later in the day when tramming on to try and make up time along a narrow road with grass growing in the middle and I glanced down at the satnav and promptly clipped the verge and dived into the undergrowth  no injury's but the grass was long and it had been raining earlier so I ended up soaked.

The final crash was at dawn on day five when a German rider dozed off in front of me and drifted across my front wheel, in my half awake state I failed to react and clipped their rear wheel whilst doing 12 mph and hit the road hard resulting in a head wound requiring four stitches, bruised ribs and soft tissue bruising between hip and lower ribs  rode the last fourteen miles to the control and got shunted off to hospital for a check over due to the fact that I have to take various medication for my heart and they had to rule out any cardiac event plus they wanted to rule out any chance of concussion as I wasn't wearing a helmet  I was finally chucked out of hospital in the afternoon after they decided my constant nodding off was more to do with lack of sleep rather than concussion and after a quick shower and some food back at the control I set off to try and finish the last 400 miles but only managed another 290 miles before I ran out of time as the lack of sleep and the bruising made made to going somewhat difficult especially on the climbs and there is one thing Ireland doesn't lack and that's climbs .

Not bike related but an emergency operation to remove part of my gangrenous bowel after my appendix had burst without my knowing.
