Had to work Xmas day and with the xtra money treated myself to the new Archos 10 g9.

Use it constantly, showing photos, browsing the net, watching TV, it can even be plugged into the TV via a HDMI cable to show movies, footie etc.

I was reading earlier about installing Ubuntu.

Anyone used the Sony Tablet S?

I've had a play in Currys and really liked the ergonomics, it just felt better in the hand than anything else I played with. There seem to be some known issues though with weak wifi reception and wifi dropout. It's due to get ICS anytime so I might wait and see if that fixes the issue. If it does I'll be very tempted.

Haha I know, I don't take hours but for some reason always take my phone or tablet with me and just stay for a while to pass the time lol it's just habit I guess and thankfully found out it's quite common over on a more gadget orientated forum lol
It's the modern equivalent of reading the newspaper on the bog. Nowt wrong with that. Plus now, if you go into the loo and realise (too late) that there's no bog roll, you can probably download it.

I just got one of these. Mainly it's for watching cycling on so I caught the last two days of the Tour de Suisse on it over the weekend. Battery life isn't as bad as they say eg I watched 4 hours of video streaming and it used about 60% of the battery which to me is acceptable.

I am having problems getting Eurosport to sanction my subscription though, that better be sorted by the TdF!

Hopefully, you are not trying to get a standard Eurosport Player web subscription to work on the Tablet? (It won't - Eurosport treats an app sub. and a web sub. as different entities - i.e. if you want both, you have to pay twice! :cursing:)

No I've seen all the fuss about that. Eurosport seem to be claiming it's a different funding stream.

I'm trying to subscribe in app and it's just not having it.

Well, good luck with that - apparently their customer service is famously poor!

My Galaxy Tab will not work with the Eurosport Player app because it doesn't (yet) run Android 4.x. Hopefully, an update will be made available at a later date and when it is, I would prefer to use the Tab. I have a web sub. for the rest of 2012, but hopefully I can switch over in 2013.

If you sort the problem out, could you report back how you did it, and then let us know how well the Android Player app works? Cheers! (I would be especially interested in the bit rate managed by the app. - the web version of the Player seems to max out at 1.8 Mb/s which is a bit disappointing because 3.0+ Mb/s would give a radically better picture quality.)

That's not good as my unbranded tablet is running 4.0.3 or something like that so it's unlikely to work even if I can get the subscription sorted out.

I may stick to just streaming feeds over the internet from Cyclingfans.com. That seemed to work at the weekend.

Eurosport just passed the buck very quickly to Google and I'm still waiting a response from them.

The info on Google Play says it will work with 4.0.

In between here and there
Not really Android related but I wanted a Tablet to run Windows software so thought of looking for a MS Tablet and they seem to be rare and not very good, amazing how MS is being left behind.

With respect to my Eurosport problem, Google say that my tablet isn't supported to use Google Play Store. This is despite me downloading several apps from it including previously purchased stuff with no problems. I've gone back to the retailer as it was sold as compatible with Play and will wait to hear what they say.

Someone is telling porkies that's for sure, I think it's Google who can't be a***d to investigate.
