Hopefully you will be equally surprised how your fitness comes back.

I had almost 18 months off the bike, the first ride back was around 40 miles and I felt knackered. I increased the mileage week by week after a month I'd done a 100 km ride and after 10 weeks a 100 mile ride and I've lost just under a stone in weight.
Keep at it, the fitness soon comes back.

3 to 4 months is long; I go away for two-week overseas trips and apart from the rapid increase in waist size caused by consumption of almost biblical amounts of excellent African beer, my legs usually feel quite strong and rested. The CV fitness takes a couple of rides to get back.

I plan on leaving work early to get a nice relaxed ride in, and enjoy being back on the bike, leaving the Garmin at home.

My bikes not going near a rampaging toddler again! lol
