Shorts. V comfortable and practical for me. But not in this weather!

PS about time someone posted that pic of a fat bloke in Lamrpre kit.

I don't think the bottom one is a Lampre kit, but it's still a little too small for him i'd say!:okay:

I have found a few very expensive examples in very gaudy race colours.
As a man in my 40's me in lycra is not a pretty sight and I'm not a racer so I would prefer a more baggy design pair of shorts with a few useable pockets (ie not the ones next to your groin). but a bib will keep them in place without the need for an uncomfortable belt or the risk of builders bum. I am surprised this type of short is not more popular. Can anyone point me in the direction of some that will be more suitable
Embrace the lycra ! baggies just catch on the saddle nose for me and rip. However if you are the cyclist who is in no hurry to go anywhere and not getting out of the saddle to sprint etc then baggies may well be fine. Bib shorts far more comfy.

I'm with the OP I used to wear lycra but haven't for years.I wear Tom Franks cargo shorts but they don't last forever.

I used braces in the days before bibs. They work fine.

In the early days of lycra, Cycling [Weekly] gave advice that time-trial vets should avoid wearing skinsuits as they tended to look like bags of firewood.
In the 80s I sported the wool shorts and 3/4s, real chamois and braces in the warmer months and Tudor longs with the braces in the winter. In fact I might get some longs and braces just for the whole retro-ness of it all!
