Why do you wish you hadn't promised it to her?
You do realise that what hers is hers and what's yours is hers too so she should actually have it all ;)

I think if you were involved in an accident and took the brunt of that yourself, a 50/50 split is unfair.

I'd have gone 70/30 in my favour.

I reckon my wife would have gone 80/20 if it was hers, in her favour.

I have a cheap car but i go and see her on the bike when it's decent weather. Sadly new glasses wont cure a detached retina.

She has to put up with Accy though. Come to that we have to put up with Accy. We should have a Cyclechat share.

I imagine paying money into a bank account that is closed could lead to all kinds of problems. As would paying it into an account you can't access. If you have a relationship with a bank, opening another account is trivial. Tell them the reason, and how much money you are putting in there, and how much you will be keeping. They'll advise you on the best account to open.

I don't want it to go into our joint account as i think Mrs Accy will take more than the 50% i promised her and to be honest i wish i hadn't promised it to her.
I'm going to spend half my share on a new bike and bike stuff. The other half,i'll keep it for a rainy day.

Wise move. After my RTA Mrs P got her hands on the whole lot and we have a new kitchen!

I was distraught, it was the first time I'd had the chance of a guilt free bike purchase.

My suggestion that if Mrs P wanted a new kitchen she should consider getting knocked off a bike didn't improve things.

My friend I can offer you much more than the solicitors are holding.
My brother is a NIgerian prince who wishes to leave the country but the military are making life difficult for him. He has many millions of pounds and he is willing to share this in return for you assistance. Bank officials in my country are refusing to transfer the money without payment of a fee. Please ask you solicitors to send the money to me by Western Union and you will be wealthy beyond your widest dreams.
