Bean to cup machine questions.

We drink maybe 6 mugs of coffee per day between us.
At the moment I alternate between a Tassimo pod and granules.
I am wondering is one of those bean to cup machines worth it...... they are not cheap.
I dont want espresso, I want a decent mug full.
I dont want loads of faff cleaning it out.
What are your thoughts ?

plus your advancing years , I doubt you'll get payback on a bean to cup machine....

What machine do you use for granules? We have a 20 quid jug filter type. We've never cleaned it - we just pull the filter out with the used granules in and throw away, then insert new filter and fill. No faff needed. Unless of course you are not satisfied with the quality of granules?

The machines are pricey, and beans seem to be nearly twice as expensive as ground coffee.

Your other option is a stove top pot ? Jar stuff is terrible. I do like our pod machine, makes a nice regular americano, and we supplement with a Mokka pot (stove top).

They make espresso mostly, you can top up with hot water to make an Americano.
They do seem to need a fair amount of maintenance especially if you use to heat milk.
I'd stick to pods...or get a cafetiere/filter machine.
I personally like Taylor's coffee bags, work out at about 25p for a large decently strong mug (get the orange box) if you can get them on offer (about 35p otherwise) and mix it up with a decent instant (like Sainsburys Taste The Difference) and tea!

Same here, I want you to live long and prosper!

But some of those bean to cup machines are around £1000+.

If you are basically brewing an americano / filter style coffee, there are cheaper ways than a bean to cup machine!

I use a Siemens machine and we all configure and save our own preferences via the memory function. I have a big mug double shot and put foamed milk on top. Changed the water filter today, about 5 minutes every couple of months.

We have a Sage Barista express I think purchased from John Lewis with my sister in laws discount card. ( she works at Waitrose). It gets used everyday and these days I get my beans from local roasters. I buy Kilo bags for £30/£35 and they last about a month. I used to use Taylor’s which is a lot cheaper under £20 a kilo but while it’s ok it not up, to local roasters standard.
We used to have a filter machine which again was fine but a class cup of coffee in the morning is something special.

I'd personally recommend pod type machines if you dont want to much faff. Preferably not tassimo, I use Dolce Gusto at home, but thats due to change to a different style of pod. I use the nespresso vertuo at work and way better and personally think its better than barrista shop brought coffee. PS yes im biased as I worked for DG / Nescafe for 10yrs.
