Welcome to cc ,
as mentioned i would take her to a bike shop and actually find out what she means by her description to save potential miscommunication , you could end up with ....

I think that's what she had in mind

My son's girlfriend would like a bike.
It would be a good start to ask why she wants a bike, and what would she intend to use it for. Then you could start looking for a bike to best fulfil the requirements.
Does she want it for transport to work?
For leisure day trips?
For longer touring trips?
For off road use on forestry tracks and similar?
For performance cycling with a view to entering cycle sport or improving general fitness?

Skinny tubes, drop bars...
Two options:
(1) genuine vintage (check out this whole sub-forum, ask questions, lots of second hand bikes for sale; also, lots of towns have Recycle projects where old bikes are refurbished and found new homes, often asking only for a small donation to a charity).
or
(2) new but retro (Kennedy is a good example, there are others).
Common factor is frame will be made of steel (hence skinny tubing).

This is a Kona Dewey

Librarians will be able to index it easily, Pharmacists will find it more difficult

I think this is good for a pharmacist as well.
It is what is prescribed and approved by experts here.
It has a good combination of gears to apply various mixtures to many situations.
Storage should not be a problem.
Cheap enough to be dispensed.

I have no idea. I should find that out.
The gearing needed for hills is different too, particularly for a new cyclist.

There's lots of variables and info needed, other than the job she does, to help with bike finding advice.

Will be carrying a laptop or documents etc - rack and panniers on the bike or a sweaty back from a rucksack, any bad back or neck issues that might make drop handlebars or too sporty a bike uncomfortable etc, big plush saddle or one like a razor blade....

Best bet as others have said is to take a tour of the local bike shops and see what she likes and feels comfortable on when she test rides some
