I’m looking for a new power bank to charge my phone/Garmin/Lights if required for touring.

My plan is generally to stay in hotel/B & Bs so expect to have no problem, but want the insurance to be able to top up during the day.

I don’t know how many MAhs I need. Obviously size and weight are the important features.

What do peeps recommend.

Thanks

Bought this one a few months ago. Pleased with it.
A bit heavy, if carrying in a pocket.
Used to charge my phone.

This Magicshine RN1200 was posted in the bargains thread recently, has 4000mAh battery and can act as a moderate sized power bank for £30.

Like many I suspect, I have a handful of different bike lights goiong back 10+ years, but nothing I have is as bright as this plus nothing has a power bank feature. No idea when the sale price ends, but I've been mulling this one over since seeing the bargains post, as I have a small Amazon voucher to spend.

But never guaranteed to have any in stock. TKMaxx are very god for bargains, but if you see something you like, you can't prevaricate, it probably won't be there next time.

If they are lighter, they will have less capacity. LiIon batteries weigh what they weigh, there's no lightweight version to be had. The capacity and weight will be in direct correlation.

There are a few lightweight powerbanks that are significantly lighter than most others.
For example Nitecore and Flextail produce 10,000mah powerbanks at 153g and 145g respectively.
You pay for saving those extra grams though.

Well it’s going to depend on your lights and phone usage and how long between power sockets you expect to go. If you are riding 5 hours in the dark every day, then you’ll want to charge your lights every day. If you only ride at most an hour of darkness each day, then your lights likely only need charging every 5th day etc. What you need solely for a GPS is trivial, 5,000mAh Powerbank will see you through 900 miles, even without B&B charging..

In terms of manufacturers I’ve been happy with both Anker and Veger. I prefer the latter as seems compatible with more devices / power standards, is stubby designed, has usb-c and A outputs and inputs, and shows remaining charge (percentage).

I use an Anker Powercore Essential 20,000mAh. It's the same size as my phone but thicker, and about 340g.

Bought it mainly because it's a brand name I know and I'm wary of cheap knockoff electronics. It fits in my bag, I can charge my phone and with a couple of MyVolts ripcords I can run my 9V and 12V music gear off it. Charges by micro or USB-C but it only powers via USB-A if that's an issue so no super duper fast charging.
