For someone who’s not a big fan, I’ve watched an awful lot of Star Trek.

Not sure I have a favourite… Quark from DS9 would be on my list of those who are fun to watch, which makes sense, as he was cast as comic relief. I also liked Michael on Discovery, though lost interest in the series after a while.

Who do you like?

No love for Lieutenant Broccoli Barclay?
Then again I've not watched Voyager so can't rate him in that.

Best captain: Picard or Sisko depending upon context
Best villain: Khan or Gul Dukat
Best character arc: Nog
Most improved portrayal: Lwaxana Troi. Unwatchably dreadful in TNG, but in DS9 having her play off René Auberjonois' sublime Odo makes for a subtle, interesting and insightful performance.
Most overrated character: Q. Sorry, Mr. de Lancie but Q is rubbish.

Categories are exactly what this needed, thanks.

Another vote for Gul Dukat as best villain.
René Auberjonois was a real catch.
