Hello, good, good people of CC Towers.

I am going to be divulging in some threesomes & was wondering which is the Best Strap On..

For your consideration are the Saris Bones 3 & the Thule Race 992

I am fairly big of brawn but small of brain so require device which is easy/ simple to operate, quick & stows away nicely after use.

I have seen the Bones reduced at several places but I suspect discounts on the Thule 992 to be small & limited.

Which strap on do you use & which of the above is best ?

Also it needs to look good, so that people shout "Nice Rack" as I pass by.

All help greatly appreciated...

Keys in the bowl please.

Just in case anyone is confused he means one of these. Not one of the other things your dirty mind was thinking about.

Might help to say what car you have...and whether you are very precious about it potentially getting scratched

I used one of these on a C4 Grand Picasso and am sorry to say that the boot door wasn't really up to the job. It has dented a little.

Checking online cycle rack sites (afterwards) they all said as much.

So £275 later and an £80 Thule 3-bike towbar mounted carrier purchased via Clubcard vouchers and Evans Cycles, our family bike riding trips and holidays have resumed. The Thule really is very good.

Sorry I can't help with the other sort of strap-on. Never needed one.

Remember to completely cover the number plate and lights as much as possible and not install a lightboard with a duplicate of all of these things.

I use a halfrauds High Mounted 3 bike carrier, which ensures all lights and plate are visible.

During the summer I saw so many cars with a ton of bikes on the back covering all the important stuff.

I can't comment on the specific carriers you mention but in the past I've used http://www.roofbox.co.uk/ and found them excellent - you dib in your car's make and model and they tell you what's suitable for it. The only advice I'd give is to go for one with wheel supports rather than one you hang the frame on - unless you like scratching your car's paintwork. And a "high" model, for the reasons Rooster1 mentions, or get a separate lightboard.

Last time, I ended up with a Thule Rampant Rabbit and a box of French ticklers.
