:thumbsup:Had these
Nothing, it has been perfect except...

Some small Raleigh kids bike, a Tomahawk, a couple of Grifters, and Olympus 5 speed racer and then a Pug 10 speed. Passed the cycling proficiency 1st time back in 1979. A perfect cycling childhood the only blip being coming off at high speed and breaking my collar bone on day 1 of my last ever school summer holiday.

I've still got the Pug, well I re-bought one after getting rid of my original one. I deeply regret that. Also now have a modern hybrid which is ok but would like to get a modern road bike.

The only thing stopping me getting a modern road bike is the lack of these...

When, why and how did the duel lever brake setup ever get resigned to obscurity. I love them.

Had these levers on my 1981 Halfords Cascade!! Thought they were fab.
I have the "modern day equivalent" on my current bike. Don't know if you can buy these as an "add on" but maybe worth checking. See pic. Some cyclocross bikes come with these as standard kit.

Can now update, my biggest disappointment is now having to sell these due to lack of space and kids needing stupid things like food and clothes. Just been sold on my better halfs evil bay

The point at which I accepted my LEL was over at Thirsk control last year. I took 20 minutes trying to persuade myself to continue, but just couldn't do it

I should never have sold my Gillott to raise money for a deposit for a Suzuki GT125 when I was 17.

In my defence I didn't know it was a Gillott until last year almost 40 years later! Still, I was an idiot for selling if.

As the ToB tends to fall across Mrs Dr Bollo's birthday, so in 2013 we shelled out for the hospitality area at the London stage. It was fab. Getting quietly minced on complimentary champers layered on pies is definitely a decent way to watch a cycle race. We also met a few riders and shlebs. Not cheap, but I felt we'd had value for money.

Wind forward to this year. sweet spot, the tour organisers, have changed the way they sell hospitality, effectively freezing fans out of the London stage for corporate customers. Ok. Me and my ride chum Jim hatch a plan to ride to the start at Camberley having shelled out £60 a pop for the 'breakfast club', so we could stuff our faces and hang about like fanboys.

We arrive at the venue to discover that the 'club' is a disused shop front not particularly close to the stage. We were there a little after opening time and the breakfast had already pretty much run out. As it was a few platters of sainsburys value croissants and some manky-looking meat and cheese ( it's the tour of Britain - where the f*** are the bacon and eggs!!!) I didn't feel I'd missed much. No riders or WAGs hanging about; the only face in the place in Michael Gove. Michael f****ing Gove!

As for the depart, it was dispatched in the manner of Albert Peirrepoint. No real crowd interactions, no time for the build up, they were on their bikes and off. I think even the crowd that hadn't just been screwed for £60 felt a little cheated. Camberley - never, ever host a bike race again.

I recall 10 years of age, propping my pride and joy up against a wall on a particularly icy morning, went into the local shop, was in there 3 minutes and then there was an almighty crash outside. A Landrover had skidded on some ice and right into my bike, the bike was a write off, and I was out of action for 4 months. I did get a shiney new raleigh out of it though when the driver eventually coughed up, can't recall what bike it was though

Could have been worse, you might have been on it.
